The latest episode of Stephen "Doctor Who" Moffat's Sherlock just finished and I enjoyed it so much Im still geeking out about it, and so I was wondering if anyone else saw it? What did you think about it?

My favourite moment had to be Sherlocks phone call to Lestrade when he had the CIA man tied up, it was a real air punch moment for me.

Yes it was brilliant, I personally prefer it to the Robert Dowey film version.

How many times did he fall out the window? Sherlock: I lost count.
...and I knew what he liked.

I wish I was more like Sherlock, I already have emotional detachment and annoying everyone thing down, I just need the intellect to do something useful with it :D

Nerdgasm.

Seriously my favourite British drama at the moment. It's just annoying that it only comes in a mini-series.

I liked it, I think it had one twist too many and consequently lost a bit of pacing. I think the number of google searches for Lara Pulver and Irene Adler and possibly with the addition of naked have gone sky high since the broadcast.

^ This. Sort of bound itself up with twists and turns, but as they began to come undone towards the end I really started to enjoy myself. I was genuinely mortified at the possibility that anything permanent could happen to Irene Adler.

Gotta say I disagree, the whole cross and double cross thing to me has always been standard fare for Sherlock Holmes.
But if I was to level one criticism at it it would the sheer shameless way in which it pandered to the audience, making Holmes into a massive Mary Sue- although it seems churlish to complain when it did so well :).

Also gotta say I prefer Downey's Holmes- there's so very little Sue to speak of.

Ok the the version from the TV is very close to the character as written in the books. Doyle said that the character of Holmes was based on Dr. Joseph Bell, whom Dolye had worked for. If anyone is a Mary Sue its Watson rather than Holmes, the brilliant mind paired with the reliable writer is pretty much the real life relationship between Bell and Dolye (Dolye was Bell's clerk). The written version of himself became a crack shot and army veteran in classic Mary Sue style

The Doweny version is a ripping yarn and funny in places, it has very little to do with the original characters and suffers consequently. I think after 130 years the original versions of the characters are still popular then there must be something about that works better than anything cobbled together by Hollywood scriptwriters. After all Titanic won a bunch of awards made massive amounts of money, but how popular is it now, only 15 years later?
