Hi.

As it's coming out reasonably soon, and so far it's the only game coming out in 2012 that i want so far, i was just wondering is anyone else looking forward to it?

I Ask this, because FC2 got pretty negative reviews - and whilst i agree, It does have many flaws i still would say it's an amazing game.

So yea, Anyone else?

Also, Whats Ubisofts U-Play DRM Like? Nothing like Origin is it?

It looks pretty interesting to me. I've never played a Far Cry game before but this one has really caught my attention. The lush colourful scenery looks fantastic and the antagonist character looks really interesting. I usually don't play shooter games at all but this one looks different to me.

I actually liked Far Cry 2 when I wasn't driving a jeep, with awful driving mechanics mind you, every bloody 5 minutes in order to get whenever I went and running into enemy checkpoints again that I've just cleared literary 5 minutes ago. Aside from that, I really liked the atmosphere and the crappy feel of the weapons was a really neat touch.

As for Far Cry 3, I do hope they take a page from Crysis 1 by giving you semi-sandbox but linear environments with multiple ways to tackle your objective. I do love me a good sandbox shooter but not in the way Far Cry 2 did it. So yeah, I'm keeping my eye on that one.

I don't think the Ubi-DRM is as awful as it used to be. AC: Revelations didn't have always on DRM and I heard it had a fairly decent PC port so I'm not worried about that anymore.

Far Cry 2 grew on me after a while and eventually I even didn't mind the driving or having to use the map in real time (the multiplayer, however, not so much).

From what I've seen of 3 it looks at least technically amazing. I hope they add a but more freedom and ways to go about doing things. I sadly never got around to setting up IEDs in the road for weapon convoys. I want more stuff like that.

if voss is remains true to the trailer, he will be one of the better villains in the industry.

the art of villainry has fallen by the wayside as of late.

just please dont let farcry 3 be like farcry 2. i hate spending 20-30 minutes just driving to the mission, then another half a hour driving to the mission location. farcry 1 was better with a massive landscape (seriously some zones were 10 miles long) with somewhat linear environment.

just dont add the rocket guys from farcry 1 who can snipe you from a mile away.

Far Cry 2 got several perfect scores. It's funny, if you look on metacritic, you'll see everything from 100 down to 60% ratings. You can tell who played 30 min.(100%) and who played to whole damn thing (60%). I had the misfortune to finish it.

That's me for the last 5 hours: eeeend, please, when is the eeeeend OMG!!!!!!!!! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I'm sure it's going to be fine, though. My friend who works at Ubi doesn't know when it'll be out, though, so your 2012, eeesh, I'm not sure.

Yeah, I am. Hoping it follows in the footsteps of Far Cry (1) rather than Far Cry 2. I despised Far Cry 2 for a wealth of reasons (even though the map editor was sweet).
I liked FC1 better too, but that was a Crytek game. Sucks to have to give money to EA to play their games, honestly.

I'm playing Far Cry 2 at the moment, and I'm enjoying the experience overall. Yes, there are flaws, but there's a lot I like as well.

I'm a little worried about the sequel though. Isn't there going to be no weapon degradation? That sounds bad to me. I thought Far Cry 2 needed more 'realistic' survival elements, not less.

Eh, I suppose we'll see.

I know the trailers aren't usually that indicative of the actual content, but that guy who asks the definition of insanity looks pretty badass. Aside from just rewarding Ubisoft for a decent ad campaign, though, I'm waiting to see if the PC port's issues extent past (the completely bearable) DRM...

...but there's one feature that makes it look better than almost every shooter in the current market. Not the colour, not the fact that you're one guy with no backup/allies instead of being a member of the entire United States armed forces...it's that Jason's hands react realistically to their environment. Walk up to a wall and he turns the gun up sideways instead of just keeping it stupidly in place like everyone else.

Far Cry 3. Fuck yeah I am ridiculously excited for. I liked Far Cry 2 and also the Crysis games, so a third high quality Far Cry would make my year.

U-Play im not sure about. I'm not sure the PC version, but the consle version just tracks certain achievements, which give you points, which you can then spend on extra content. (Like Ezio in the newest Prince of Persia)

I havent seen anything about this yet (searching for trailers now) but I hope it's more akin to far cry 1 I much prefered that to the slog that was far cry 2 I mean Jesus Christ!! That game seemed to last forever and the endings aren't even worth it In anyway what so ever Infact I will say far cry 2 had the worst ending to a game I've ever played ever.

I much preferred far cry 1's weird Sci fi story to far cry 2's " story"

I'm really only interested in Far Cry 3 from a technological standpoint (As in the game engine and such), because that's the kind of thing I'm interested in.

I haven't been able to find a release date yet, but I'm fairly excited for it. I didn't get the chance to play Far Cry 1, but the sequel was interesting enough (my only real gripe was the unending people in cars chasing you off the road because you looked at them funny)

The footage from Far Cry 3 was pretty awesome though, and looks promising.

I don't mean to sound rash, but are your "f" and "h" keys broken?

OP:I'm a bit wary due to the "numbers of a hitting enemies" concept. Reminds me too much of borderlands. However, I did like FC2, despite it's many, MANY flaws. I enjoyed the environments, atmosphere of loneliness and despair, and, unlike other people, I actually enjoyed the ending. (or rather, my choice of ending). The main issues (despite the several others) were that everyone wanted you dead (no friendly, or indifferent AI), and enemies somehow managed to outrun you if you were both in cars. (in fact, nothing was more frightening then walking in a field and hearing the infamous "vroom-VROOOOM! *SCREEEAAACCCHH*" of an enemy jeep heading straight toward you.)
