Anyone playing Vanquish?

I'm on the fence about buying it. There are like, 500 dollars worth of new games coming out in the next few months so I have to be a little choosey. I love manic, crazy-ass shooters and the demo for Vanquish had me drooling for some Japanese arcade madness.I ask the good people of The Escapist Forums, should I buy this game? Is it any good,(IYO), and is it worth 60 bucks or should I just wait until the inevitable post-holiday price drop?

It's not the longest of games and with no (unnecessary) multiplayer it might be worth holding out for something with a bit more life in it.

Gotcha. So then, probably should just get Black-Ops/GT5/FONV/NFS:HP/etc...before I get Vanquish? Thanks for the feedback. Still, the game looks frackin' awesome.

I'd say check it out, I heard it had some very good game mechanics and is very well balanced...<.<

Yeah, and in terms of replay value there's supposed to be some nasty challenges once you beat the single player mode. It's also supposedly VERY difficult, and I love that kind of mainy nonsense in my games. Perfect for example: I loved Demon's Souls. I love games that kick my ass hard and make me develop my skills. From what I've read, Vanquish has some pretty tough fights in it, aside from the fact that it's a gorgeous game with some crazy-ass game mechanics. *sigh* why did all of these awesome games have to come out at the same time? @$#^%^&&&%%^&*^!!!!

I was very excited about Vanquish, but as it turns out it's just another one of those 7 hour shooting gallery games. I don't think I'll get it.

That's what's making me kind of perch on the fence about this one. I heard that too, but apparently the shooting gallery is pretty unique, as far as shooting galleries go. Also, there are some gameplay mechanics that supposedly make Vanquish stand out from the rest of the shooting gallery pack. I'd really like to hear from someone that's actually played, ya know?
