I've seen pictures of Big Daddy from Kickass. He looks nothing like the character in the film. My question for any who have read it: is Hit Girl different from her movie version as well. Not just in looks. If there is one thing I am still freaking out about from the movie, it was the sexualization of this little kid. (That she was abused and that Big Daddy never should have let a child do what he expected of her was not shocking as I'd read Rick Veight's "Side Kicks" about 20 years ago.)

If the comic book version is not a smut mouthed, sexualized prepubescent, then, I think that says something increasingly odd is going on in Hollywood. If she is, well, likely no bigger point to make. It was just weird.

Do you mean Rick Veitch's Brat Pack? I read that one too.
And she's smutmouthed in the comic too, but as far as I remember she's not sexualized.

none of the characters bear any real resemblance to wha t they do in the book in the film. Red Mist and Kick ass don't look anyhting like they do in the book as well.

In what way was she sexualized in the film? Either way, Hollywood has always taken grand liberties with original source, this would be nothing new. In this instance the film turned out far more awesome than the fairly mediocre (in my opinion, of course) comic, so its all good.

She's pretty much the same as in the film, but because of a certain twist in her origin it's more tragic. And wow I never really thought she was that sexualised in the film, but I did watch it after reading Kick-Ass so I have a different perspective.

Off the top of my head, one near adult teen sees her in a video and says I'm in love. In another scene, she is asked about a signal and says they have a bat signal, except rather than a bat, it is shaped like a ... y'know. And the little girl outfit looks like something from a japanese school girl porn.

The character was disturbing in other ways, but it was meant to be, so, I thought it cool. Though "mediocre" I would like to check the books sometime. I'll have to see if they have been put in a collection/graphic novel form..
