I was reminiscing about old video games with my bro and we got to talking about a funny easter egg in the original Command & Conquer game. I found the sound files using an editor or file unpacker back when the game was pretty new, and I think later found a command switch to launch the easter egg enabled.

The easter egg had all the sound effects in the game replaced by some guy mimicking the sounds of the gunshots and explosions, like you were listening to kids play. It was freaking hilarious, but I can't find any references to this with Google or Youtube. I'm usually pretty good about locating stuff, but maybe I'm just not using the right search terms.

Anyone else remember this, or know where to find them?

The only sound effect easter egg i can remember from the original c&c was the godzilla cheat that made all the voices japanese. I played that game a fair bit but i can't say i ever heard the one you mentioned.

That was on the playstation version though so perhaps that explains why i dont know about any other bonus sound effects.

Sure you weren't playing a mod? I remember playing with the files back in the day to do stuff like that(back when I was into C&C) and I honestly don't remember hearing about anything like that. I would have loved to play the game like that

On a related note, I found out that in C&C: Red Alert, if you messed with the .ini file to alter unit attributes, you could turn Tanya into a Werewolf by giving her the dogbite attack. I did it purely on accident and only noticed it when she would attack soldiers by turning into a leaping dog.

I also found out that giving the medic a weapon so he wasn't completely defensless makes him useless as a medic because he shoots your troops instead of healing them.

Good times.

I don't think it was a mod.. I suppose it is possible but I can't imagine how I would have got it. For the obelisk of light it was a guy going eemmmmm PEWWW!!! Funny shit.

Weird I thought I'd be able to find something about it somewhere. This is really bugging me! If only I could find my original CD.

Sounds like Zounds to me:

Pew Pew, Kabooosh! Happy Xmas.

EDIT: I searched a little but couldn't find out how to get these files running on recent re-releases like the First Decade boxset. But hopefully it's not impossible. Good luck.
