Anyone think a Fallout Prologue is a good idea?

I was thinking about the Fallout series after beating Fallout 2 (i was catching up so I can play the third one), and I had an idea. What if there was a "Fallout Chronicles" game which details when the war that created the Post Apocalyptic Earth of Fallout through the eyes of soldiers on different sides.

It can detail the origins of the Master, the FEV, the Vaults, and a lot more of the questions left unanswered in the series. Hell, it can explain how the Pip boy got it's name and how the Vault Boy was created! Fallout 1 explained the war that created the post apocalyptic wasteland, but we never got a chance to experience it from someone else's eyes. Anyone think Fallout Chronicles is a good idea? Discuss.

I believe he's joking. I made a similar joke when I was playing DEFCON, saying that "after this, everyone can play some Fallout."

A Fallout Prologue would be a great idea, as long as it was well written though that wouldn't be entirely hard to write for as the basis is already there.

To be honest, I would rather the series move forward. Not that it isn't a decent idea, though. It's just that those topics listed are either a)slightly irrelevant, or b) topics that have been dealt with for at least 3 games now. Again, don't get me wrong on this, I would love to see those events unfold. However, if alot of time an money are going to be put into a new project I would rather see something different. A new threat, a changing of times, will humanity take a further step in overcoming their plight or be snuffed out completely? Hell, maybe even see how another part of the world made out following the devestation.

Agreed. We already know what happened, and while there could be a decent story in there or what have you, you know the ultimate end of the story. The beauty of the Fallout games is the different endings and how you shaped the wasteland. A 'prologue' would really take away from the dynamic story telling so loved in the series.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new one set in Europe, Asia, or Africa. That would be nuts!

I think if the story was well written, I'd actually play a Fallout Prologue game. Given that the setting could be right up til the bombs drop, and then a short while after, I think it could make for a pretty interesting turn for the series.

I dunno if it could have the Fallout charm. I'd love to see fallout set someplace other then America though.

That's something i never thought about when thinking about the idea for a Fallout Prologue, but I think it would definitely take away from the 50's like presentation of the Fallout Universe. It would damage the series if it wasn't there.

Nope its a bad idea. All you need to know going into Fallout is that there's been a nuclear apocalypse. And then ya carry on from that.

It's a considerable idea but probably not likely to happen. You can't really have a game about the world before the nuclear strike, then there wouldn't be fallout, right?

It's a nice idea, but not in a game form. It's obviously to 'tie loose ends' so to speak, and I'd rather see such a thing in a text form. Like a weekly release on their official website or something. Maybe a fictional diary of someone who lives in the time where the nuclear war is about to break loose. It would eventually describe the war actually going on and the main character and his family fleeing into the vaults.
