with all these natural distasters, death, plauges of insects plauging the world at this current time, one would believe that this is leading to the end... which leads me to my point... the apocolypse is coming, and with any luck it will involve the zombie apocolypse... BUT, are you ready?

Actually, if anything, the increasingly severe weather patterns on Earth seem to be part of a cycle that's been going on for millions of years, and may be heralding the onset of a new ice age. If it is an ice age, then, no, I don't think humanity is ready to survive.

Maybe were appreaching the "end of the line". Maybe all these things happening are part of a cycle a new kind of creature comes...rules the earth and then it disappears. Like the dinosaurs ! Quoting Jurassic Park " Life always find it's way" !

Ready? You don't seem to understand the meaning of the word Apocalypse. If we're all going to die, then we're all going to die and that's all there is to it. I'll bet 2012 theorists are having fun now.

It could happen. All it would take is a simple prion that only eats certain parts of the brain. Also, Jesus. He was a zombie.
OT: Yeah, I would probably survive a week or two then die from something dumb, like some bad tuna.

Anyone else dig that Canada has absolutely nothing going on, I know I do.
One of the few times I'm glad this land of ours is rather dull :p

On topic, I am confident in my ability to survive nearly any global catastrophe. My philosophy is to have an umbrella and be glad I don't need it, which is why a viral epidemic scares the ever-living crap out of me, there's not much you can do to prepare, survival will be based purely on luck, it keeps me up at night.

I'm just not too worried about it. And I think most of the possibilities are luck based. Oddly a zombie outbreak or something like that would be much easier to handle since it doesn't depend on you not being at the impact site of a nuke or asteroid or something. Actually the zombie outbreak would pretty much fix itself within a week, rotting flesh doesn't last long. Now a nasty virus with a 48-72 hour incubation period and having it be highly contagious/airborne combined with a high mortality rate yeah that would be bad.

I guess my way of dealing with things would be saying "screw it" and going to my cabin, assuming I survived the initial event.

Ah, dammit... I was going to say...

"I love the smell of Napalm in the morning..."

/Sad-face

OT: Whelp! If it's going to end, I'm getting a 6-pack and going out partying...

There were so many things I was expecting from this thread and you in here talking about some damn non-existent apocalypse. Shit.
OT: it was a great movie and best banshee quote by far

I thought that might be the case too but then I called Jesus on his cell phone and asked him if the Apocalypse was coming and he said "No shits just happening like it always does."

Who are you to argue with Jesus?

Well we already have people living in Antarctica, so I think at least the civilized populations of the world wouldn't do too badly. It would require a lot of international cooperation to survive a full-on ice age though, and I think that would be the most difficult hurdle for us. It would cost trillions to build large enough bunkers for us to live in, and to find ways to maintain natural resources throughout. I imagine we'd become almost sort of a militaristic society--living out of cafeterias in huge, beehive-like underground cities.

That would be an interesting transition to make, indeed.

No, the random weather patterns is just the Earth healing itself, as for the plagues. Well they need some curing. Honestly if the Earth was going to end then it would have ended years ago. In 2000, you know; when Y2K was supposed to blow up the planet
