Okay, my question is simple:

What are your takes/opinions of the different factions in Fallout: NV?
ie- New California Republic, Caesar's Legion, The Brotherhood of Steel etc etc

My opinions stand simple; (and mind- this is coming from a very high karma player)

NCR- extremely old-fashioned (modern day) government and democratic way of thinking which is failing miserably. They hold absolutely NO power in the Mojave, and deserve no power anywhere. They are weak and pathetic, beaurocratic and a waste of space.

Brotherhood- so far, have become a Paladin of the BoS, but that is as far as the questline goes (at least for me, so far). So don't play a massive role (again- so far as I've played up to). On the whole, still good but intent on personal technological advantages. Still prefer them over NCR.

Caesar's Legion- they conquered, what was it, 80 hordes of tribes? They have united every piece of land they conquer. They make places that swarm with raiders become a place of trade, of true justice/law. Granted- it is a very male orientated party. Females are treated as slaves more or less. For me (again, coming from Very High Karma in every FO I play), TheLegion are by far the 'best/purest' party in FO:NV.

I must add as well, I am a huge history boff/bore/enthusiast, and am totally in love with both J and A Caesar, and what they did for politics/democracy/history and empireship. <3

Wow, I thought Caesar's Legion to be obviously the most evil faction. And yes I listened to Caesar's rant about Hegelian philosophy, doesn't change the fact that they are simply fascists. Yes, Caesar helped bring about stability to a large differing groups, but the amount of bloodshed and slavery as a result is actually worse than wars among small tribes for the amount of suffering caused.

To me they are the least Karmic (not in the religious sense, but in the sense I think what karma is in the game) of the major 3 factions. I may be wrong here, but to me karma in the game isn't about the future results but about the means to the results. Things such as killing "good" characters and stealing lower karma.

I do not even like the ends of Caesar's Legion! I mean, what the fuck will they do if they did conquer everything? There would be no more point of their existence. Just to be around for the greater cause of whoever would be Caesar.

NCR has its problems but I would much rather live in the USA than a group that even if they win will just end up being like some stereotypical dystopia society.

Hell, Caesar isn't even the best dictator in the game morally, that would probably be house. House is interesting for
his plan is to basically take advantage of NCR's corruption and commercial values to fund technological advancement. Less evil means and less evil ends than Caesar's Legion in my opinion.

Note I haven't beaten the game yet.

.
Agreed in the greater sense.
And thanks for the answer.

At first, I thought they too were the obvious 'bad guys' of the game (Legion), but I think just tonight, my version of good and bad has changed drastically. As far as the game Karma goes, as you mention- yes they are bad. But the bad that is good. They would go to any mean to achieve the 'greater good' of conquest and stability. That being said- I would gladly let 10 people die to save 100, which in essence is what the Legion represents. They spill a lot of blood, cause a lot of war, but in the end a lot of people are saved from the slavery and horrors of a unstable environment like the Wasteland and the Mojave are.

House had the right idea- if you can mix and integrate the Legion and NCR together, you get the best of both worlds.. but like you I haven't finished the game yet, so I do not know if this is possible or just theoretical. Any ideas?
