those people who think that just because you dislike the fact that Heimdall is black is racist is absurd. There are many out there who would base it on that, but there are a hell of a lot more as many people who look at it from accuracy (in terms of Comic Book) and accuracy in terms of actual Norse Mythology.

Since the Comic Book takes great liberty at making the Norse Gods actually a different alien race then it already creates a huge fictional wall between actual mythology and comic book interpretation of it, then we can logically assume that they can have whatever creative freedom they want in doing with the story, and they have.

Since the comic book is already a re-writing, or rather re-imagining of actual Norse Mythology, the next obvious medium (cinema) is just a re-imagining of the comic book of the actual Norse Mythology. This gives the next medium the right to re-imagined as they see fit. In this case they decided to place an incredible black actor as Heimdall, and every single line he spoke, and every single expression he made was mythological. It didn't break the immersion at all, in fact it reinforced it, over-the-top words, powerful convictions, larger than life, and very godlike.

Neo-Pagans that are pissed, get over yourselves, most of you are half-convicted in your own bullshit anyway. Go back to listening black metal and death metal. I mean, what's the point of half-acting out an old pagan, incredibly superstitious (more so than any other main stream religion) beliefs, when you exclude actual rituals practiced during those times? This isn't racism, this is cultural bigotry. I hate your culture. Sorry, it's stupid. Just an opinion of one jerk on the internet.

Comic Book geeks who are pissed at the continuity? As above statements implied, by being pissed off at the movie for taking those creative liberties with the comic book, (which is itself a mythology), but completely ignoring the fact that the comic book actually tore apart actual mythology in favor of a re-imagined one, makes you guys hypocrites.

People who think that by not liking Black Heimdall is racism: get a life.

That's just as retarded as Tom Cruise being the Last Samurai.
Samurai is both singular and plural. I think the title was meant to be referring to all of the Samurai in the movie, not just Tom Cruise's character.

I assume it's a movie about actual Norse mythology, not some children's book.
I was under the wrongful impression that it was a proper movie as opposed to an adaptation of a kids' picture book.
That is such a naive and patronizing way to belittle an entire medium of work. Comics aren't just for children, studies have shown that most comic buyers are adults who possess the necessary disposable income. Both of the big two companies Marvel and Dc, have their own divisions set aside for only mature stories, MAX and Vertigo respectively.

While there are certainly comics that are made for children as their target, to call comics childish for this you would also have to condemn television for having sesame street and videogames, because of, I don't know, Dora the explorer games.
