Well really all he noted was a connection between lack of social media presence and the murderers.

slashdot inserted the "no facebook = MASS MURDERER!"


His wording wasn't poor, the internet spun it out of control, like it always does.

Facebook is a social strategy these days. Job hiring folk will look you up on Facebook, and your profile should look vaguely interesting, pretty normal, and absent of any incriminating pictures of you doing drugs, drinking heavily, stripping at parties, or whatever. Basically, if it's embarrassing or illegal, don't put it on the internet, but if you don't have any internet presence, it probably counts against you because everyone trusts people they know more about (barring 'omg I know you're a pedophile' or something) more than those they don't.

I'm too busy meeting people in real life to sign up to facebook. You know, all that talking and stuff tends to take up lots of time.

I was signed up to facebook once, I found it the easiest thing in the world to use to lose friends, people believe ~everything~ you put there! I used it to do my forever alone thing and push people away. =]

In all seriousness facebook has its uses but its uses as a communication tool are vastly overrated imo.
