I don't think there's a more pathetic image of some guy sat in a (likely public) toilet with a tiny iPhone watching poorly pixelated porn.

Okay, there probably are more pathetic images but that one's pretty damn pathetic.

/Just wait 'til you get home and get it in 1080p super high definition from the comfort of your sofa.

Oh and that's what they're worried about? I've noticed that violent games on the iPhone tend to be much more gorey than their commercial counterparts with games having enemies get ripped apart with visible organs poking out even if they were just killed by an archer.

So I guess Apple stopped pretending they weren't digital communists and now are just being more blatant about it, then.
and really?
This was more in response to the "we have a brand to maintain", implications. I can understand their point of view but the way they've handled the app store so far has been pretty draconian and very irrational. If they start even more outwardly acting like they want to tell everyone what apps they can and can't make, well...
and my "and really?" was in reference to the quote below.

bad combo of quotes and typing on my part.
sorry, my bit above quoting you was saying i totally agree.

Ah I see now. Well to be fair I was coming a bit out of left field with it anyway and perhaps wasn't the best way of articulating what I was trying to say.

If parents don't want their kids looking this stuff up on the iPhone then maybe they SHOULDN'T BUY THEIR KIDS iPHONES!

Its common damn sense. Oh wait, I forgot common sense nowadays may as well be extinct, or put on the extremely endangered list.
And then Apple would lose money which is counter productive to thier mission statement. And women. They would lose all thier female customers because of the "objectional content" you know the stuff that degrades all women except for the ones who are on the business end of the camera who are posing sexy for a reason (mainly $$$$). What they need is parental locks and female customers to grow up.

Bull. Fucking. Shit.

Apple has just fallen, very very low. Knee-jerk reactions help no-one.
Did they not consider parental locks? At all?
Especially when Playboy are allowed to get away with it because they have money.

I like all the comments about apple being some totalitarian evil empire for banning certain apps.
It is their product, they can ban whatever they want.
Get over it!

use more parental controls if the underage and stupid get ahold of the iphones. Don't go blaming the company because little Billy couldn't keep it in his pants over a naked tit on his phone screen.

Agree'd. Also, Jobs seems to be doing more damage to his own company at the moment than these 'unsavory' apps, by banning the google voice widget and adobe software, which admittedly are both buggy, but still the customer has the right to choose.

Besides the major brand name thing, why do people want iPhones again? With the amount of apps being banned on there I wouldn't be surprised if your average phone could do a lot more at a much lower price.

Not trolling by the way, I'm really curious here.
I felt the same way about the iPod, forcing you into the iTunes system where every song was locked up with Apple DRM. I got a Sansa for less than $50, which just identifies itself as a USB mass storage device that I can drag and drop my MP3s to from any OS, and I never felt like I was missing anything.

Apple has a brand to maintain, so they can't have anything degrading women on iTunes

WHAT THE HELL ABOUT 90% OF RAP MUSIC?!

And how can you say that it's degrading to women to be able to defy society's standards and make money for that? I never really understand that. First of all, they're paid to do something as simple as get a picture taken in a swimsuit. Second of all, this is women feeling confident with their self image enough to share it with the entire world. Third of all, they don't represent all of a group that makes up 50% of the population. Also, isn't it more degrading to men given that it is basically saying through marketing that since they are marketing to men, all men must be perverts?

I really have no problem with apple (they refunded a whole album of mine when only one song was corrupted), but rather parents who forget that kids don't need to be sheltered and that they should be the ones looking out for their child. Now if Apple were selling this ONLY to kids, or even marketing it in a way that was more geared towards kids (right beside the new episode of spongebob: Playboy!) then I could see the problem. But this is once again parents giving in to their child's demands and then realizing that they shouldn't have, just like with R-rated movies, M-rated games, and explicit content music. The only thing that the seller needs to do is warn the parents. If the parents don't listen, than it's their own fault.

Not impressed with Apple. Decided to set themselves up as the nanny of everyone with an iPhone is insuilting enough. But to retain apps by Playboy or the Cosmo guide to sexual positions with step-by-step instructions just goes to show that the whole move is utter bullshit.

Suggestive apps are subversive against the body-politik!!! Conform, conform to the all powerful authority that controls your life.

(yes I realise this is tantamount to Godwin's Law... doesn't mean it isn't true)

I hate apple more and more, it's not like the iphone/touch isn't restrictive enough now they're filtering what we see? Why not leave that filtering up to the USER.

The worst being that they refuse to add flash support to their browser because they know it'll interfere with sales of apps. So we have a lot of broken websites because of it. Can't watch any escapist videos on the itouch no sir!

I love the device but I hate the creators, restricting EVERYTHING possible.

God damn it...

Right, I'm going to tell all the women who went and complained about this one life changing statement: Harden the fuck up, srsly.

If you're bitching about some 'sexually suggestive' applications for a piece of technology you need a life, or a cookbook... (sorry)

The world isn't shiny, full of rainbows and kittens and it CERTAINLY isn't a happy place. There are going to be lots of sexist things out in the world and you're too busy trying to make the world as female friendly as you can, you're an idiot. There are a lot more things people should be worrying about.

That said, I'm glad I got the "How to please your man and cook dinner in an hour" app before they removed it!
