Apple iPad, potential?

I just saw this pop up on Yahoo "news".
So is the Apple tablet for real?
Or is the iPad's potential to beat the PC closer to a trout's potential to beat a Tyrannosaurus in a fist fight?
Does anyone even care?

It's got all the disadvantages of a PC laptop (bulk) and all the disadvantages of an iPhone (restricted design, the inability to actually do anything meaningful). It could potentially be great in future versions but the current one is just a marketing toy for nerds with too much money.

I stopped reading after he suggested it could replace a netbook, a computer that cost almost half as much the iPad and doesn't NEED an app store (because it can be used with ANY software).

The only reason I would want an iPad is to use it as an ebook reader.

The problem is I can buy an ebook reader for 1/3 the price of an iPad.
