Maybe you've seen it, maybe you haven't, but the most recent iPhone ad sickens me..

The tag line is: "If your phone isn't an iPhone, then... it's not an iPhone."

In terms of encouraging crass consumerism, and owning a branded product for the sake of it, that takes the biscuit. Now, I'm not someone who ascribes to the 'must have' cult of anything, and my phone is hardly the most up-to-date thing.

I know that there are differences between the iPhone and other similar products. I know that they like to distinguish themselves. But the ad makes me rage - and it does so for other people I've spoken to as well. It comes across as so smug and self-satisfied - partly due to the narrator's voice, but I hate it.

This is a rant, yes, but it's a rant against forcing consumerism down western civilization's throats at a time when it is least able to afford it.

Anybody else similarly offended by the ad, or am I in a minority? Any other ads that really annoy people?
