Summary: April 6, 2010 - It's easy to pick up and play a game on a touchscreen device. Showing off your refined motor skills and superior reflexes when you're tapping and swiping on a flat surface is not. The lack of physical buttons is the biggest barrier preventing products like the iPhone from bridging the gap between a being a mobile device and being a fully equipped gaming platform. Now it looks like Apple is ready to start closing that gap.

kinda intresting. the second pitcure looks almost the exact same as a DS. :p Is apple trying to bring down the house of the DS and PSP? What do you guys think? Will it end the DS and PSP or will it just be a new third choice?

Im sorry but that just looks like a crudly drawn ninetendo DS. I see no reason why apple would patent that. The touch screen only controls are mainly what i find attactive about the Ipad so it would be silly to want to change that or buy an accesory for that.

If Apple wants to go anywhere with this concept, then I suggest they go a bit further. It's kind of like how the Zune, while not a complete failure, probably never will catch up to the iPod.

Ah, the wretched hive of scum and villany that is the patent system, wherein if you claim you thought of an idea first you can squeeze retarded amounts of money out of other people who try to use it.

Microsoft succeeded in the console market because there was good competition between the companies that they could exploit. Apple's stepping into a marketplace with an 800 pound gorilla and a field mouse. I don't think they'll do that well.
