Proving once again there is indeed a sucker born every minute. Also proving if you put a large touch screen on a piece of pig shit and market it right you can make millions. Sorry Apple fans, the Ipad is garbage. Not to say it won't pave the way for truly awesome pads in the future like the Iphone did for cell phones. However, unlike the Iphone the Ipad has no use other than being a "cool" piece of new technology. It's too big to be useful like the Iphone and too limited to be useful like a laptop computer. I guess it does have a niche market in all those people with REALLY bad eye site that always wanted their own Ipod Touch but just couldn't make out the small screen.
I don't think the first iPhone is an apt analogy. When it was released, people didn't know what an iPhone really was. Btw, I'd be surprised if it sells more than four million in the whole year. Apple devices are sort of like box office, you can multiply the opening day by nine and you get the year's take

I was looking at one of these at best buy. I wasn't going to buy it, god no, I have other things on which I could waste my money. Anyway was looking one over and the salesman came over like normal and asked "Anything I can help you with?" I reply "No, thanks just looking." and then instead of leaving and helping the other people around me he continued to just stand there and stare at me...needless to say if he was trying to creep me out to get me away from the ipad for someone who would actually buy it then mission friggin accomplished.
And they say there's a recession? There's one million people that have the money to buy a piece of hardware that does everything their cellphone and/or laptop does. People amaze me sometimes.
I've been impatiently waiting to get my hands on one of these since it was first announced but unfortunately I live in Canada, and the release date for the WiFi version has been pushed back. They haven't even announced the release date for the 3G version yet...

I might have bought one, but for it's uses, i'd have liked to have a camera, and so I shall be waiting for the HP slate, Notion Ink Adam or Hanvon Touchpad.
