Appleseed?

Alright this may seem like a pointless thread but I didn't want to go to a different forum to ask this and judging by the number of anime avatars and discussion I sometimes see around here I can safely assume that there are more than a few anime geeks on this forum (no offense intended we're all geeks here). Anyways onto the question.

I never liked anime, in any shape or form. Never was drawn into the story or the art, plus the translation from Japanese to English was always a bit rough on even me (someone who was raised by Japanese grandparents). But A long time ago I stumbled upon a movie called "Appleseed" translation wasn't all that great and neither was the animation but I was enthralled by the story and concepts presented in the film. Well I loved the film it was the first piece of anime anything that I was interested in, but after sometime I lost interest. And then maybe a year ago the sequel was released (again it's not like I just found this movie/manga) "Appleseed Ex Machina". And I enjoyed that so much I purchased that DVD as well. Again after sometime I had watched the movie so many times I just lost some interest. Well just this past week I was at an electronics store and saw Ex Machina on Bluray, so I picked it up. And while watching it again I realized that I hadn't heard from the series in some time.

So what I ask from you anime heads on the forums is, have you've heard anything about the Appleseed series in sometime (sequels)? Or does anyone even know what i'm talking about?


EDIT: I am referring to the new CG Appleseed films, just to clarify.

I loved appleseed, but then again, I like a lot of anime.


Except for naruto, that was just horrible.

Appleseed is based on the characters created by Masamune Shirow in the original Appleseed manga series that was published in 1985. There is another film based off the manga made back in 1988, Appleseed (OVA), but it got nothing in common with the 2004 movie (Appleseed) which is what the sequrd is based off. So which one your saw then. The 2004 movie is computer generated and the 1988 is drawned?

I have never heard of Appleseed. Then again, I only watch anime series that are high quality and well developed which my friends can vouch for. You yourself said it wasn't all that finely executed.

2004 & 2007 Versions.

I said the first one (2004 Version) voice acting was a bit off adn the CG was a bit chopped, I still enjoyed it quite a bit though. And as for the newest one (Appleseed Ex Machina) you'd be hard pressed to find an anime with a higher production value.
