Anyone played this game who can give me some guidance on whether to buy it or not? I played the demo and thought it was very good. The characters were pretty wooden and the transition from combat to exploration was terrible, but the atmosphere was great and the different enemy types helped to liven up the combat, which I liked, but I understand won't be for everyone. Also the constant finding of loot and better items pretty much made the game, and does the full game have even better and cooler loot throughout without resorting to the +1 attack copy/paste weapon method. Any advice would be great, the reviews were pretty terrible though.

EDIT: For those who don't know, It's an action-RPG and I'm playing on the 360

I played the demo and thought it was great.

I bought the game and it's been a clusterfuck disaster. I recently just gave up and uninstalled the piece of shit.

They apparently had lots of time to optimize the demo that they for some reason didn't have for the game. After fighting with it a day just to get Steam to start it(this was Steam's fault, it didn't run the installers in the Gothic 4 folder for no reason at all), it ran horrifically slowly and a performance fix patch didn't even fix it, so I have to stop playing and close the program every 5 minutes because it steadily gets slower until it moves like a slideshow.

Then I was in that cave at the end of the demo and every three minutes I would fall through the floor and be trapped and have to restart the whole damned thing.

What a $#&^ing disaster, I can see why that company went broke.

Play the other Gothic games. I mean, I haven't tried Gothic 4 yet (stuck on Gothic 2), but it doesn't look very good.

I brought this for 360 last year.

To be honest its a very boring and underwhelming game. The plot is dull and stupid and the voice acting is horrible. I found it impossible to relate to any of the characters, especially the player character. They are all very plain and uninteresting, and the voice acting is delivered with no passion or personality, while the player character sounds like an angry polish man reading off and English script. The quests are dull, before the plot kicks off you start off on n00b island, with hours of gameplay involving boring fetch quests, with no real substance. for example about 3 of the said fetch quests involve gathering items for some orc, who will give you some special metal to forge a ring for your upcoming wedding, and about 8 more involving other aspects of wedding preparation. The combat is awkward and messy, gameplay is very buggy and there is no real sense of immersion.

By the time the plot kicked of I was bored stupid and couldn?t be arsed to continue.

All in all a bad game, with a terrible beginning/tutorial section which failed on every aspect on drawing me in.

Also the graphics are pretty poo.

I preordered it, I hadn't had a new RPG in a while. I was so disappointed: it's dull, feels clunky, and I couldn't sympathise with any of the characters. I stopped playing due to boredom and I haven't even gotten off the starter island. I can't see myself going back to it either.
