I got a Switch recently, and I noticed the Archive function is available for both downloaded software and physical media. Now, I doubt it would erase the game cart (otherwise, Nintendo would've gotten a high-profile lawsuit by now), but, just to ask, does it do anything if I select it when playing a game off a cart?

I think that it removes game data files that are downloaded from the internet after starting the game (updates, content that won't fit on the cartridge, etc)

Well, yeah, but does it do anything to physical games?, like, does it redeem a downloadable version?

It can't do anything to the cartridge itself, as that isn't writable.
Though you'll still need the updates (stored on the Switch itself) for the thing to fully work.

Cool, does it redeem a downloadable copy or something?
