You see them everywhere, at the zoo at the mall at home in the elivator AT THE MOVIES why is it that people just seem like they NEED to be constantly on the phone.

Note please excuse any spelling errors i'm in a hurry.

No idea myself. I can't understand how people constantly text. I have an unlimited texting plan, but I find myself hardly texting. Just quick heads-ups and stuff. Although I'm sure if I cancelled it, I'd be texting like mad or something.

What makes me laugh is people using cell phones as cameras. Saw this in Europe a lot. I mean, I don't have an SLR, but even a cheap $100-200 camera is going to be better than your cell phone... I mean, these are memories! You don't want the Eiffel Tower looking like a giant fuzzy dong sticking up your ass in that photo!

There's a secret frequency that cell phones emit which attracts teenage girls and pretentious douches to their texting methods and it also instructs them to keep the phone constantly in their hands while driving.

I have 3. One on pay as you go O2 for chatting to my gf, we're in a "Family" bolt on which allows us to make unlimited text/calls to each other for only 7 pounds a month. I have another phone on Vodafone contract with some free minutes and texts, used for non O2 mobiles and landlines. And finally a T-Mobile phone on pay as you go which I hardly ever use except if the signal on my other two phones fail.

I'm not addicted to phones, but I am addicted to finding the cheapest methods to communicate conveniently.

Now, I believe you have found the cheapest way, sure, but convenient? Oh well, to each his own. If doesn't bother you, doesn't bother me.

I wish I was addicted, that way I could score more girls. Seriously, I have two friends(guys) who text constantly and they met their girlfriends by texting. Like they would text a person, they would tell about said individual, and they would give them the person number, and so on and so forth. Its so... weird.

My cell phone can be pretty addictive when I'm bored shitless in class. During school hours I'm often texting a few people but stop when I get home because I can usually talk to them on my laptop over MSN or Facebook or something.

I dont get addicted to my cell phone because it only does 2 things. Calls people and sends texts. Honestly you dont need a phone to do anything else.. Thats what a friggen PDA is for.

I have nothing to do on my phone except call people in case of emergency. I get more enjoyment out of my Pokéwalker.

It has to do with the kind of phone you have, if my phone went on the Escapist then yes I would be addicted. Sadly my phone does nothing therefore I hate it.

I hate talking on the phone and texting but if I had a "cool" phone that had nifty apps and stuff then I would probably say differently.

I use my cell to communicate, read the news, surf the web, post on web site forums (LIKE THIS ONE), play games, etc... I suppose something like that could be addicting

No. The idea that cell phones are addicting is ridiculous, and displays that you haven't thought too much about it.

Cell phones are a tool. They are a tool for communication. Bottles are a tool for holding alcohol, but the bottle itself is not the addicting part of it all. The bottle simply allows for the consumption of alcohol: the alcohol is the potentially addicting part, not the bottle. In the same way, a cell phone is nothing more than a tool used for communication. I don't text my girlfriend because I love pushing the keys, I text her because I love talking to her. It has nothing to do with the cell phone, it has to do with talking to people.

To say cell phones are addicting simply makes no sense when you think about it: they allow for easy communication anywhere, at any time. Cell phones are only a tool making social addiction easier.

I like keeping my mobile with me at all times, its good in case people need to contact me and vice versa.
Of course i text on it a lot. More so at college than anything, since i can just about type without looking at the screen or where i'm typing. So i can arrange things while in class without bothering my lecturer.

Phones probably are very addictive, what saddens me though is how young some people with mobiles are, i know a girl who is 8 and has had a mobile phone for a year now. Sorry but thats wrong, early teens perhaps but not that young.
