With a few exceptions, it seems the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are pretty much clones of each other, with the vast majority of games being available on both platforms. This was a problem with the PS3 and 360 to an extent. While multiplatform games are benifitial, they shouldn't dominate your system's library. Looking at handhelds, The libraries for both the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita are very different. The 3DS offers more colorful, quirky games and RPGs, while the Vita has more console style and niche games. The Wii and Wii U for all their 3rd party troubles, had/have more exclusive games than the competition.

I feel exclusives are important to a system as they give the consumer a reason to buy it along with, or over the competition. But with them becoming less common, I feel Sony and Microsofts systems are just identical twins with slight differences.

Eh most of the Wii exclusives were shovelware. Who can forget titles like Wii Fit and its riveting sequel, Wii Fit Plus. Or other gaming landmarks like Wii Chess, Wii Music, Wii Party, Wii Play, Wii Play: Motion, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort... etc. Pretty much every game that wasn't Mario and Zelda got ported in the end. And I consider the best game on the Wii to be a port from the PS2. You know the one.

So um anyway something I don't get from your thread. Is it about exclusive games dying, like the title says, or about Nintendo being better at everything, as usual?

I don't know about MS but so far PS4 has Uncharted, The Order, Driveclub and Bloodborne in production as exclusives. Not to mention Sony's strategy is to put more emphasis on game development and collaborations with third party developers. So I'd say, contrary to previous gen, exclusives are very much on the rise.

And ofcourse, everyone wants a PS4 for Bloodborne. :p

Well, permanent exclusives are certainly dying.
I think this was actually covered in the recent jimquisition... he goes on about how the big wigs are just paying devs to release their game exclusively on their console except it's only temporary.
