I was actually suprised I like 7 so much. I got no issues with it.
Skipped Vista.
XP was insufficient, because I want to be able to use more than 3 GB RAM.

I skipped over Vista, but Windows 7 gets the job done well. It is the first Windows that IMHO out-Mac's the Mac--when I compare it to my Dad's iMac. In fact, I'm even using the default web browser (Explorer) and picture viewer now.

As far as upgrading, I keep things backed up well enough that a fresh install after a complete wipe would be fairly painless.

While I like Windows 7 a good bit more than Vista, neither has yet provided me with a compelling reason to upgrade given how much time and effort it would take getting all my stuff reinstalled.

I'll probably only upgrade if an when something catastrophically breaks, Microsoft stops updating XP, or software developers stop releasing games for it.

Not actually helpful, because I don't want default settings, and also I was referring to the hundreds of games to be installed, patched, modified, organized, etc. An automated installation tool wouldn't do all that much to alleviate the tedium.

I've been using Win 7 x64 for a while now and I love it, it is such a HUGE improvement over vista.

I use Windows 7 to because it utilizes a lot less RAM in comparison to Windows Vista and improves frame rate in some games.

Staying with vista 32 bit for now, works great for me, never had any problems with it no performance issues, no errors, nothing.. it was surprisingly stable for me, add to that the fact that I'd need to reinstall everything I have and I don't see myself changing to windows 7 any time soon.

Really the only advantage I would see for 7 is the increased performance and since everything runs great on vista for now I just don't see the point .. plus I've heard of enough bugs encountered on windows 7 already so no thanks.. gonna wait for at least 1 more year before I change.. when its all nice and stable.

Im still using Vista 32 bit. I'd like to use 7 but I'll be doing a hardware update on my computer before I change operating system.
Exactly like this. Probably upgrading to 64bit W7 when I do some major hardware upgrading

Windows 7 is a must-have for me. XP served me pretty well, but my computer is, funnily enough, waaaay snappier and in general a nicer experience with Win7. My advice: Why haven't you upgraded already? Get an external HDD and dump all the crap you want to keep, throw away the rest. Boom!

Using windows 7 and it's great so far. Can't wait to get DX11 up and running on it if gf100 comes out anytime this decade.
Nvidia just began mass production of the GTX 480 & 470 so it should release by the end of february. : )

I'll be upgrading from Vista in the not-too-distant future. Who can say no to better performance?

I'm a little bit pissed that I bought Vista (and a card) for DX10, only to have no one pay attention to it in the end.
I can say no. I don't want to pay and I've had no problems with Vista. In fact, I spent an hour fiddling with preferences and now I love it almost as much as my old XP computer.

Really? I know the have been taped or whatever the technical term is, and that the white sheets are out as well as the GTX460 and GTX480 have been confirmed but that's it - as yet there has been no actually mention of their clock speeds, plus serious concerns over cost due to silicon yield, power efficiency and heating.
Any source would be really ace, I'm holding out hoping gf100 will be as good as Nvidia claim with none of the problems that usually come with delayed 'hot' chips.

Swapped from XP to Windows 7 and can happily say it's a huge improvement. Only problem I've had so far is a seemingly 'common' thing where you if you have too many USB peripherals plugged in, the CP usage will swiftly rise up to nearly 100% no matter how little you are running.

Ofc, I just plugged out like one thing and now it's working like a charm. ^^ All hail Win 7 I say!

I used 7 here and there, and frankly im unimpressed. I even find the interface of 7 slightly confusing. Not nearly enough use to get a good opinion.

I dont see why i would switch, and anyway, i dont have money to spend on a new OS (even if its between 150 and 250$ tax and increased canadian prices included).. plus im almost sure i will need to upgrade my PC to keep up with 7's needs.

But hey, i could be wrong.

But i have yet to see any convincing argument to switch.

XP still works very well for me, so i will wait and see.

Since when has Vista been even considered as a gamers OS? Me and my friend both have basically the same laptops (2x2ghz, 4gb RAM, 256MB VGA) and his runs assassins creed on 1640xsomething with tons of settings maxed out and my game lags on 800x600 with minimum settings. He's on XP and I'm on Vista. I can't think of another reason other than the OS.

That's probably the thing that keeps me wanting to downgrade sometime. The only thing is that my laptop is specifically designed for Vista etc and anywhere I go I get told to buzz off with the idea of downgrading.

I got a new PC last week. It came with Vista, but I upgraded to 7 professional 64 bit. So far I like it, and haven't had any issues.
