Think about it. No, seriously.
We are. But looks aren't everything.

No. Most men aren't funny. But, neither are most women. It's a talent.
Exactly.

Ugh. Here are a bunch of words to satisfy the people who report you for one word posts. Babboon Dream.

[link]http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2007/01/hitchens200701[/link] I refer you all to this collumn. I don't know if it's been linked here already, but I think he makes a few valid points. Women don't have to be funny, men do.

I have to agree - female comedians are strikingly unfunny. Seriously, I have never seen a female comedian that managed to make me laugh. That being said, I have met girls who I've found funny...not hilariously funny, but still pretty funny.

I dont know about you but I just dont find women comedians very funny. Its like girls can only be funny to girls but not to guys. However guys are funny to both guys and girls. Am I wrong?
The way I feel when I watch a girls stand up routine is like being at an all women get together drinking tea discussing periods, menopause, and other things guys dont want to hear because its a huge pennies repellent.
So tell me how you feel about girl comedians. Do you find them funny?

EDIT: Because I always have to explain some more. Im talking on average are women funny. Yes there are funny women but are the majority funny?
Agree with you op. It seems many women have a certain kind of humor (a bad one). Not all of course, but many. There are extremely few women I find funny. Comedians: almost none (I actually cant think of a single one), but I do have funny friends that are girls. My girlfriend for instance :p

But yes OP, girls are not funny. Usually.

Edit: Read the Vanity Fair article. Good stuff.

Dude, as a male, you should really look into learning how to spell your own genitalia. Last time I checked, I didn't have "pennies" between my legs.

On topic, no, I almost never find female comedians funny. But I do adore the ones I do find funny. The same go for female musicians...I hate 95% of female musicians. I don't believe it has anything to do with sexism. I just rarely find their routines or music enjoyable. Not my cup of tea. I think lots of people would agree.

Stand up comedians? I don?t think most of them are funny, male or female.
I think comedians do much better making comedy shows. As far as ones made by female comedians Dinner Ladies and Catherin Tate comes to mind.

I think female comedians are mostly obnoxious and wants shock value-laughs, they often go with the "Oh no she cant say that because she's a woman, she's so crazy!-humor"

I've only ever met one good female comedian and I can't remember her name now :(.

For the most part though I agree with a lot of what Hitchen says. Women comedians don't make funny jokes, but are rather just shock and awe. Which I don't find funny male or female.

I've laughed at a few of em(never at lisa) but I've never laughed so hard I lost my breath a few times like I've done at a few comedy shows. Jokes from male comedians are just better. Its not just the jokes though its the delivery too.

Don't watch much stand up, let alone females doing stand up, so don't know about that. In general I know some fairly funny girls though.

I listened to SOME funny women comedians, but male comedians are generally funnier to me.

Don't me wrong, the funniest person I know is a girl.

And, like people have said, this is kind of a stupid question. You probably should change it to "Are most woman COMEDIANS funny?". Kind of a key word there.

Because all women comedians have the exact same skits huh?
Actually, most of them do... and it's kinda sad >.<

Most of the ones I've seen either talk about female issues, how stupid/sexist/fat/<insert derogatory comment/quality> men are or similar subjects. I've heard one woman that had some nice material (someone on Escapist linked her performance actually), but that's about it, while I've seen a lot of male comedians that were hilarious and had loads of original and interesting material and abilities of comedic value.

As far as comedians go, sorry if you think it's sexist, but from my (granted limited) experience, yes, men are better. Also, again from my experience, men have more of a sense of humour and are less easily offended by well natured jokes.

I think the issue isn't comedic talent. It's more to do with appeal. Women tend to make jokes that appeal to women, or jokes that are pretty 'safe' and don't gather that much of a laugh until you're 1/2 way through the act. They tend to self-deprecate far too much for my liking, too. All these things get laughs out of women, but out of men? Not so much.

The guys tend to make more jokes about life in general which everyone can relate to, women tend to make jokes aimed at women. Unless they're from an ethnic minority, in which case it's all about that instead.

I believe men have less social boundaries.
Hence, more willing to think outside them.

Isn't all humour just insulting someone?

Furthermore, women (usually) have something against making fun of themselves, and self-parody gets so many laughs and it's SO easy.

I've noticed that there are far more male comedians than female comedians, and among the people I know, the men seem to be funnier than the women. That said, I've seen women comedians who've reduced me to tears of laughter where a male comedian has bombed.
