Well I wasn't lazy when it came to my band, guitar practice or socializing... but high school was such a bore and I couldn't be bothered to do too well in there. Now I realize I was being a little shit and I should have done better (even though I still think high school is a load of crap).

Maybe the problem is high expectations and not laziness?
People keep telling really young kids how special and awesome they are.
Then later in life they notice it doesn't match up with reality, since we're all just sort of average (which is really bad) at most things. Then we feel bad about it, because "they could do better if they just applied themselves" and get even more unmotivated.

Everyone is lazy. Everyone. There are many different kinds of laziness, however.
The only mitigating factor is that many have the fortitude to overcome that fault.

Im a teacher, Im not much older then some of the kids I work with. I wouldnt say they are all lazy, indeed many work hard. However some are dispondant, I dont blame them, who isnt reluctant to do things they dont want to? Who chooses to do tasks when its difficult to discern the meaning? And who wont get away with less when less will do?
Teenagers are not lazy, many though are unmotivated, unpaid unrespected but also irresponsible. But in todays age where the younger generations are given consoles and the internet up until they hit 18 then told to go out into a world with no jobs for them where their opinions are not held as valid and where frankly they are not always geared towards in education (though thats the curriculums fault argeuably) who can blame them?
But yes there are some who are spoilt @:{(^%: but they tend to be spoilt @&%$" adults too.
