Are there any games out there right now that you are on the fence about purchasing?

This always seems to happen to me when I get my hands on some disposable income. Here I am with 25 bucks on my steam wallet and I've spent the past 2 days hovering my cursor over the buy button for natural selection 2, but some issues talked about on the steam forums have kept me from making the plunge.

So are there any others like me out there, where you want to buy a game, have the money to buy the game, but just have enough doubt in your mind about the games quality that keeps you from wanting to make a decision?

I wouldn't recommend buying Natural Selection 2 unless you like shooting at small, fasting moving targets that bounce all over the walls or trying to perform melee attacks from first person on erratically moving targets.

Personally I'm on the fence about the new Tomb Raider game. What I've seen looks pretty good, but I'm not sure if it's $60 good. Also, my backlog is getting kinda ridiculous. If it wasn't for that I'd probably get it.

Resident Evil 6...

It got a pretty middling to bad reception on release, but steam has the PC version for $40 which comes out in about a months time and I have been umming and uhhhing about getting it. I just want to see how bad it could be really, considering I generally liked both 4 and 5 I am interested to see with my own eyes, what pissed people off the most more than anything.

I'm also on the fence with Tomb Raider. I have no interest in the preorder bonuses however so I'm quite content to sit this one out and wait to see what reviews and reactions to the game are. If it's overall positive I'll probably see if I can get it a bit cheaper of Green Man Gaming.

Other than that there's literally jack shit of interest to me that is available right now. The industry is stagnant. I'm hoping Bioshock Infinite turns out to be as good as it looks because even if the story of 2 was lackluster compared to the first the gameplay was tight and fun.

I've thought about the new Tomb Raider game as well. From what we've been shown, the game looks promising, but so did Colonial Marines, but look at the ongoing shitstorm concerning it. Give me a demo I can download and depending on how much I like it, I'll buy it on day 1. But other games and/or DLC that have me on the fence or concerned about:

- Borderlands DLC. I was thinking about and planning on getting the season pass + a couple of costume packs, but Colonial Marines happened.

Strike Suit Zero. I haven't played a mech game in a long time, with Armored Core For Answer being the last one I've played (stupid name, I mean the "For Answer" part) and this looks interesting. I mean that in a "I've spent the same amount of money on significantly less than stellar games and DLC" way. The critics seem iffy about it, but I normally disregard "professional" reviews as senseless blather, as they tend to trash games they aren't paid or threatened to shine in a positive light. Customer reviews seem neutral to positive. Still on the fence about this game.

God yes.

I keep nearly buying Dishonoured, Torchlight 2, Darksiders II and Fallout 3.

Dishonoured. I keep waiting for that one to drop in price more (waiting for the sale to beat all sales) because although I definitely want to play it - I don't want to pay THAT much for it. Having read reviews/previews etc, I'm pretty sure I'll like it - but not quite sure enough to fork out any cash yet.

Torchlight 2. I played the first Torchlight and liked it. I'd probably like the second one even better. I'm on the fence though because it seems like I'll essentially be buying the first game again (just with some new window dressing).

Darksiders II. The storyline intrigued me when I first heard about it. The personification of death on a mission to save humanity? Huh. Then I saw the character models and gameplay footage and went "hmmm... maybe not". Then again, the weapon-levelling system and kickass undead horse-thing you get to ride also appeal. Maybe when it gets cheaper...

Fallout 3. I somehow missed this one. I'd heard other people talk about it for ages but never quite got around to playing it. I've always loved sandbox RPGs - especially ones done by Bethesda. The trouble is that I think I might have played too many at this stage. With the Elder Scrolls series for example. I was in love with Morrowind, really liked Oblivion but was pretty lukewarm about Skyrim for some reason. Am I sick of exploring sandboxes? Or was it just something about Skyrim in particular that didn't grab me? Until I've figured it out - I don't think I'll be buying any more. Mind you, Fallout 3 is pretty cheap these days. It could be an inexpensive way to find out one way or the other...

Well practically all of the last few major game releases. Dead Space 3 i've decided to just watch Helloween's LP of, thankfully he's not hating on it 24/7 because that crap gets old fast.

Far Cry 3 I hear is good but I am DONE with FPS for a while. The only thing I am really looking forward to is Bioshock Infinite

I have too many games to play already, it's the curse of online games. They never end. I keep playing BlazBlue because it's fun as hell and Hazama is just so awesome to play. Oh i've played it enough to decide my most loathed characters now. Tager and Arakune can fuck right off. I hate grapple characters to begin with and 99% of the time Tager will just Astral you and there's fuck all you can do about it because it pulls your character into an unblockable grab. That's Riot levels of character balance there. And Arakune is just confusing. I'm not even mad i'm getting destroyed i'm just confused. Which of the 500000 things on the screen is me? Am I getting hit? What? Oh I died apparently. Ok? It's a perfectly decent match until he gets max Curse (and there's no way to decrease it until it hits max) then you die.

I keep playing LoL because hey premade teams make the game great instead of good and Ranked is actually fu-f-fu no I can't say it. It's closer to fun than it ever used to be though. New League system OP.

I really enjoyed the Gears series.I've beaten each campaign multiple times both solo and co-op and put hundreds of hours into the online multiplayer both competitive and co-op.Yet I can't seem to summon any excitment for this game at all.I watched the newest trailer recently and my reaction was "meh"

I'll probably still end up buying it though knowing me

I take it you are playing CSEX? version if you want to see a ridiculous Arakune play Calamity Trigger holy hell talk about annoying as hell to fight.

Anyway I am on the fence about Metal Gear Rising the new Tomb Raider and Bioshock infinite I dont have enough money for all three so one will be a new purchase and the other two will likely be later I am edging towards the new Tomb Raider because from what I have seen it looks good.

I was not a fan of the older Tomb Raider games but it looks like it has changed enough but I may wait until a few weeks after release and see what the general consensus is I dont buy many games on release now I think the last one was Soul Calibur 5 at the beginning of last year theres just not enough time for me to play them all or enough money to buy them.

I've played both, though i've only played against Arakune once in CT in the short time I played it. I remember getting wrecked in like 2 seconds, then I moved on to CS:EX because I didn't want to bother with the flowchart required to get the true ending for CT and CS:EX has a simple enough prologue for it.

Arakune wasn't as bad in CS:EX, though I've played against the same guy 5 times in a row and every fucking time we would be equal then lol no instakilled from 80% health with one set of Curse. At least make him lose Curse if I get hits on him, come on. :S

Lol yeah I have been wrecked by good Arakune players before suddenly the screen fills with shit and your dead well you are if you are my level anyway but at least he has to build curse now in CT it was just bam your cursed thank you and good night it was like 10k combos from one hit sometimes I remember well sod that mind you Rachel and Nu were nightmares in CT as well.

I play Makoto when I play which is rare now but she isnt too good in CS:EX and is even worse when I play her mind you the game is really heavy on combos find a good player of any character and you will be combo`d to death with little effort I have never played a good Carl player but I have played a few Litchis and bloody hell I didnt know what was coming from where oh and Tager just hope he never gets in.

I am waiting for Chrono Phantasma now really I played a lot of CT and CS and then CS:EX came out and I was feeling a little burned out so didnt play much but Phantasma looks really good also my Makoto will be godlike yes I am calling it now I will decimate the comp on the lowest difficulty 8 times out of 10. Godlike.

I hate to go off topic, but hearing that anyone likes the new league system makes vomit blood. The divisions within each bracket takes so much more time to advance. Before climbing from like 1150-1450 (silver to gold) was 300 elo, now the equivalent is silver 5 to gold 5 is at the very least 500 points + winning 10 advancement matches; sadly the gain/loss of elo and LP is pretty much the same. Also, the kicker is if you're at the bottom of a division and you lose there is no placement matches like there is in advancing to save you from falling to a lower division, it just throws you down into the middle of the lower division.

The thing with the old ELO system was there was no... Safety net, so to speak. You could be perfectly fine at 1200 or whatever, lose a few too many games in a row and you cannot climb back up at all. While it's true you can't climb up as well, neither can you drop anywhere near as hard as you could before.

I mean I can't go back to Bronze 4 now i'm Bronze 3 for example. It's a clear sign of advancement that simply cannot be taken away from you, unlike before.

And yes I know i'm not super pr0 MLG swag. I'm not like my one duo partner who was immediately placed at Silver 1 after winning three Ranked matches in a row because I totally carried him with Support Lulu.

How the balls does that get worked out? He never even PLAYS Ranked! I don't really either but no proper placement matches, nothing. His first three straight games = Silver 1. I'm just confused more than anything...

Oh I was absolutely shocked how civil my first five or so games were. People were actually agreeable in Champion Select and didn't rage. Well I always duo so that's only 3 people but still. Things when back to normal after that though. What a shame.

I'm waiting for my friend who mains Akali mid to gets to the stage where either the enemy mid or jungle has mid pinked 100% of the time to shut her down. It's going to be such a wakeup call XD

I do it when I jungle anyway. J4 dunking Akali when she thinks she's invisible is HILARIOUS

Yeah I really try to main Makoto but i'm not naturally in-tune with a boxer type person. I just default to Hazama because looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. He's such a troll. Such. A. Troll.

Getting wrecked by somebody? No chance of winning? Spam taunt. It's so good.

*getting fucked up by Arakune*

"Really? Come on now!"

It's like he knows how cheap it is. I never taunt unless i'm 100% sure i'm fucked though. It's no fun for either of us if i'm practically a training dummy.

Oh and he starts laughing at Ragna. My LoL senses tell me to laugh bait. Must. Resist. Laughing. I get owned by Ragna all the time. I think I can do something then INFERNO DIVIDER! Oh fuck off

Count me a one of the people on the fence about Tomb Raider. It looks okay but every time I watch a trailer her voice grates on my nerves. I can't imagine playing a whole game hearing that.

I'm very on the fence about the new Tomb Raider. It looks like a very cool reimagining of the series, and I do hope it does very well; but I'm leery about committing to it myself. I'll probably wait until it goes down in price.

The problem with games, even those with Demos, is that the final product is the true determining factor. Unlike movies, or books, however, hating a game sets you back quite a bit more. Reviews also only do so much to ease you in, as well. There are games with crap reviews I've loved, and games with great reviews I've hated.

Still, it's also about a games ability to build its own hype, and remain honest about it. The original Bioshock is my favorite example of a sleeper hit that built great hype and I knew I'd be playing a great game before I'd even bought it. Unfortunately, that's very difficult to do in the gaming industry.

Weigh your pros and cons about the purchase, or buy something else on the hopes that the game you're on the fence about goes on sale at some point, or find people who have played it and get their honest opinion.
