Heavy Gear 2 s a fantastic game. A bit dated now but still excellent. There is a tonne of customisation and different mechs to choose from.
Tell me about it! I didn't get broadband at my spot until December 2009, and remember when the servers shut down? That's right, bloody January 2010! I was so many shades of not f*cking impressed...Gorden Springel said:Chromehounds is the reason why I bought an Xbox 360, reallllly sad to see it go.Grouchy Imp said:Chromehounds was a good mech game for the 360. Unfortunately the single player 'campaigns' are really just trainers for the online battles, and the servers were taken offline last year.
Yeah, I think it was around $200 new when it first came out.SnootyEnglishman said:I think most of the cost goes to that giant controller assembly.Fidelias said:Oh crap, that looks awesome!SnootyEnglishman said:Bwah ha ha.Fayathon said:Damn you, I was going to suggest that!SnootyEnglishman said:If you can afford the game and can figure out the massive controller for it I think Steel Battalion will be your thing.
I've got a copy of Steel Battalion and if you can find a copy and an Xbox (not the 360) to play it on it's a lot of fun.
Oh crap, 200 bucks for a used copy!!!
Damn...
Can you run the game without the bigass controller?Falseprophet said:Yeah, I think it was around $200 new when it first came out.SnootyEnglishman said:I think most of the cost goes to that giant controller assembly.Fidelias said:Oh crap, that looks awesome!SnootyEnglishman said:Bwah ha ha.Fayathon said:Damn you, I was going to suggest that!SnootyEnglishman said:If you can afford the game and can figure out the massive controller for it I think Steel Battalion will be your thing.

i hope that this series is buried very deep, as it was a total disgrace for the Mechwarrior series and the Battletech universe as a wholeShoggoth2588 said:...wait a moment...

Why hasn't this been given sequels!? I don't remember a thing about the plot but painstakingly destroying an entire city, one building at a time, was really cathartic.
I'd say your best bet is mech warrior 4... but as that's not working i don't know what to tell you. I agree though that the recent, i almost have to say spin off games, are lacking. They're oversimplified and removed the very things that i liked about mech warrior. Namely, the extensive customization abilities and the hard points (left torso right torso, center, head ect.) Now it's just a game about big robots shooting each other in the face, it's lost all of its tactical appeal. I remember some good times in that game... Fitting a black night with enough firepower to knock over an atlas... Crushing foes using my jump-jets in a Madcat MK2... It just isn't the same any more...Fidelias said:So I'm desperate to find a good Mech game, but the only ones I've heard about recently are the Armored Core, (which is way too confusing), or the Front Mission Evolved game, (which just sucks on so many levels).
I have tried to download the free Mechwarrior 4 game from Mektek, but it didn't work (DAMN YOU VISTA!!!!)
So, did I miss anything? Oh, I have an Xbox 360 and a computer that runs Vista...
Also, for discussion purposes, you can comment about how there aren't any good Mech games anymore and how Mechwarrior 5 can't come out sooner.
In case you didn't know, I love Mechwarrior. Suck it Gundam!
Edit: So I'm looking for a game that has mechs vs mechs, something that doesn't force you into just one or two mechs but allows you control of at least a few, or else let's you customize your mech extensively, though I'm pretty sure all this is just wishful thinking.
Dammit, when is Mechwarrior 5 gonna get here?
OMG I CAN'T WAIT! That looks awesome.Torrasque said:Just give it some time.
As for now, I'd suggest getting one of the Mech Assault games, Mech Warrior games, or grab Armored Core 4-5.
Nothing compares to Mech Assault 1 for me, but this game looks siiiiiick.
Look around for someone willing to part with it cheap, I got my copy for $40, money well spent I feel.Fidelias said:Oh crap, that looks awesome!SnootyEnglishman said:Bwah ha ha.Fayathon said:Damn you, I was going to suggest that!SnootyEnglishman said:If you can afford the game and can figure out the massive controller for it I think Steel Battalion will be your thing.

No, that big controller is needed, the regular controller, hell even four of them don't have enough inputs for all the shit you have to do in the game.Fidelias said:Can you run the game without the bigass controller?
That looks beautiful... but i don't think i can bring myself to play it if they don't return hard-points and the ability to extensively customize your Mechs (from the original Mech Warrior series, not this crap that came out on the x-box)Torrasque said:Just give it some time.

No, they actually have an official trailer for MW5, see:timeadept said:I'd say your best bet is mech warrior 4... but as that's not working i don't know what to tell you. Btw is that just wishful thinking or is there actually going to be a Mech Warrior 5?
Also if you do find something good i'd like to hear about it, i wouldn't mind playing thouse games again, i wonder if Mech Warrior 4 works on windows 7 though...
lol, its still just the demo.timeadept said:That looks beautiful... but i don't think i can bring myself to play it if they don't return hard-points and the ability to extensively customize your Mechs (from the original Mech Warrior series, not this crap that came out on the x-box)Torrasque said:Just give it some time.

What really pisses me off about this whole thing is that FASA already fought and WON (or settled? can't remember) this case, before selling the rights to make a official Mechwarrior 5 to whomever is currently being taken to court.Fidelias said:No, they actually have an official trailer for MW5, see:
But they released it a couple years ago, and they still haven't given any updates about it. Last I heard, the developers were being sued by some assholes because they're mechs looked too similar to whoever was sueing them. So maybe it'll never come out...
That sir, is bullshit. I don't play Mech Warrior games cause the robots LOOK COOL!!! Freaken bastards. I would LOVE to see the series revived and there are people trying to kill it for an easy buck?!? I hate people some times...Fidelias said:No, they actually have an official trailer for MW5, see:timeadept said:I'd say your best bet is mech warrior 4... but as that's not working i don't know what to tell you.
