I agree with the iHelmet sentiment, it looks way too smooth and minimalistic for my taste, and for the aesthetics of the Star Wars galaxy. Although the question that irks me more is why there would even BE stormtroopers in a post Empire galaxy. Am I missing something?
Before Disney axed all of the EU, the Empire was still the dominant government/force in the SW galaxy for quite some time after Return of the Jedi. They didn't all just surrender to the handful of rebel ships that survived the Battle of Endor. It'd take years for the New Republic (government formed from the rebel alliance) to take Coruscant (the capital world) and to persuade star systems to join them, and even then the Empire survived and was a huge threat.
Except this new Star Wars movie is supposed to take place like 30+ years after the original. I know the empire didn't just immediately fold over after the destruction of the second Deathstar but for it to have lasted another 30 years really paints a pessimistic picture of the original trilogies conclusion.

Anyway, I HOPE the empire isn't in the new movie. I don't really want just another retread of the same thing all over again.
The Empire survived longer in the the EU. Hell, it may not have been nearly as strong as the New Republic, and was far from the strongest member of the Galactic Alliance, but it's the only faction to exist from the Battle of Yavin all the way into the Legacy Era (140+ years after the New Hope). After only about 30 or 40 years, it shouldn't be a surprise if they are in control of a large part of the galaxy, or even the largest power around. These things don't fall over night, just remember the shear scale we're talking about: a million habited worlds with countless more that aren't and a military of trillions. That isn't going to fall all at once, especially not with how many worlds are loyal. It took 5 years for the separatists to be defeated, and they where outnumbered 10 to 1 in terms of industrial capacity and resources (even if they had more disposable robots then the Republic had troops).

I like them, they could be a hell of a lot worse!

Nice modern advancement of the original design

This Stormtrooper helmet looks dumb. I'm sorry. I already hate JJ Star Wars.

That Jungle trooper helmet doesn't look like it would be much fun to wear in the jungle. It does indeed look like the Snow Trooper helmets from Empire Strikes back.

I must say, I really like the stormtrooper helmet. The jungle trooper one a bit less, but this could be a whole lot worse. I don't mind it being a complete redesign of the aesthetic of Star Wars, the classic designs just wouldn't have worked anyway. I like to see where this goes.

I've always thought these guys [http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130129181446/starwars/images/f/f1/EliteDarktrooper-SWGTCGAoD.jpg] looked awesome

Yeah, I'd say it's a bit too featureless for my liking.
Actually, I think the "Jungletrooper" helmet (looks more desert-appropriate, though, doesn't it?) is the better of the two. I'm a sucker for minimalism, though, so that doesn't really surprise me.

Not sure how I feel about the Stormtrooper one. On the one hand, it looks cool enough, but on the other looks kinda chintzy.

EDIT: Just had a thought: What if the Jungletrooper helmet is for the Imperial Guard 2.0? Looks really similar, IMO.

They look just as uncomfortable and impractical as the original trilogy's helmets. Good job! Who needs to see through helmets, anyway?
I just like to think those are sensor arrays and that there's a display inside the helmet that the trooper actually looks at. I also like to think the armor is sealed so as to provide a barrier against hostile environments (up to a reasonable point, at least).

Edit: At least on the jungle armor since the slit is so narrow. The standard helm could be regular old covered eye slots since they're at least large enough to see out of.
Let's be frank. If the Stormtroopers helmets had a built in display, you just know the first thing they would do would be to stand there watching Intergalactic Wookie Porn all day long with no one being the wiser.

Which actually goes a long way towards explaining the events of and Stormtrooper performance in the Original Trilogy. Exactly how could two witless fools, and old geezer and a 9' walking abomination of hair wander aimlessly through the Empires mightiest fortress causing mayhem and destruction where ever they went, stealing away a high value political prisoner, disabling entire defense systems, and escaping in a hopped up wreck of a freighter? I'm thinking "in helmet porn" suddenly becomes a remarkably clear explanation for it all. Yeah and you know those guys in the big black helmets that controlled all the big guns? IMax Porn!

I don't care one way or the other until (and unless) this article gets updated. I'm just waiting patiently for the end of 2015 when I can just see the movie.

I hope it isn't real. One thing they got right with the prequels was the morph into stormtrooper helmets. These just look like apple products meets daftpunk.

Well, I guess retrofitting the Enterprise was enough for Apple to win the bid to outfit the Galactic Empire.
