...Where the threads about how nice guys are shit are equally matched by the response threads saying "No they aren't, shush" ?

I mean come on, it's all getting a bit silly now isn't it. Someone posts a thread about beta males, someone else posts a thread about how beta males aren't a thing, ANOTHER thread about nice guys pops up, a counter thread saying nice guys don't all finish last, on and on and on with SO
MANY
GENDER-RALISATIONS.(See what I did there? Genralisation about gender, Genderralisations? Oh piss off then)

Can we change the subject? PLEASE? We we're on the right track a week ago, everyone wanted to talk about batman? Can we PLEASE have a forum trend about batman? Batman doesn't make me feel insecure. Much.

Oh and before someone says "You're adding to your own cycle you fool!" I'm not, I'm talking ABOUT the cycle, so it's okay. Also, I'm spiderman.

Isn't this like the 7th thread you've made about telling people to stop talking about the same thing?

Pretty ironic don't you think? :D

I'm calling it. The next flavour of the month will be about chicken wings and their redundancy as both flying appendages and as a food stuff.

You have the best gifs.

Anyway, WebHead, you do know that this forum goes through cycles, right? You must, since you use the word 'cycle' in your OP. Every two weeks or so a new hot topic gets brought up, or an old topic that always generates flames hits the spotlight again, and it repeats over and over and over and over and over, until the end of time. That's why people retreat to User Groups and the Forum Games after a certain amount of time in Off-Topic and Gaming Discussion, if they stay around for long enough without getting banned.

Phff, poor choice.

It'll be about spaghetti and how they are absolutely useful when used in conjunction with rice.

Nothing personal, but I have to put this here.

I do hate it when...

people use a fucking ellipsis in the title only to encourage people to click and view the whole thread. It's borderline misleading title - probably the closest you can get without technically crossing the line.

But...

why do people do it? I have yet to see a title that cannot really fit in the title box. And you are saving up, what? Three words? Five words? Yeah, some things are more complicated and can't accurately be laid in a sentence. That's why the title only gives the gist of it and you have a whole opening post to help you refine what you mean.

Or...

do you have such low confidence that anybody would click on your thread that you resort to tricking them? Isn't it better to just not make a thread if you doubt it so serious doubts for its well-being.

The title...

can be so much better if people knew what was it about. Maybe it would encourage more of them to comment. Because more with relevant interest/experience/knowledge/whatever will identify it and look in.

...
Yes, that's an ellipsis, if you didn't catch it. Three dots. Or fullstops, as the case may be.

We...

are not obliged to try and mind read or guess over the internet what stuff is about. But we'd like to know. That's why we'd click on the title.
So...

don't you find it somewhat annoying to be lead into something just because there is an ellipsis at the end of of a sentence? I sure do. I am pretty sure I'm not the only one. So even if you don't, try to consider the others, too.

Other than that

Confidence born of ignorance. The cycle cannot be broken. The pattern has repeated itself more times than you can fathom. Threads rise, evolve, advance, and at the apex of their glory they are get meta threads complaining about them. The alpha/beta males were not the first. They did not create the counter threads phenomena. They did not forge the gender issues. They mere found them.

None of the cycles die. Sexism, gun control, religion, general hatred of new big-budget games, general hatred of publishers, all of it just swirls around and around, getting spewed out into the forums at varying intervals to feed the denizens.

I don't know about that, until today I had seen any 'Nice Guy' threads for months. They're usually accompanied by 'Friend-Zone' threads, and to be fair to the one I did see today, it was started by the same guy who made a thread about "Why do 'Beta Males' exist?"

I'm not saying they never happen, but I don't think they're around with any higher frequency than all of the silly 'sexism in gaming' or feminism threads.

I dunno, of all the recurring thread topics, I'd say the nice guy ones are the most common. Beta males is basically just the more insulting way of saying nice guy, seemingly.

I think they're better than sexism threads, and they're easier to avoid/ignore too. Bring 'em on if they'll keep us away from starting flame wars about Sarkeesian or whatever her name is.
