Are you a Camper?

Easy question.

If you do, you ruin the game.

(Sniping is camping by nature, and that is how you use the weapon, so you do not count. This refers to when you are using anything except a sniper rifle.)

I have a lot of time in online shooters. I know the percentage of Campers to Players. (Camping is not playing the game.)

So just be honest.

----------------

I hate camping. I run around, usually with my Vector. Just went 31-11 in hardcore TDM a little while ago.

Be honest, you made this thread entirely for this statement, didn't you?

OT: I'm a sniper. It's what I'm good at.

However, I don't see camping with a different gun as unfair. If you don't have the common sense to not go barging around without checking for enemies, then it's your own fault when you die.

No, I'm a ******. Or at least that's what the other players tell me.

I don't camp. I do one of two things: I see people coming, hide in a corner, hope they don't see me, then kill them. Then I move on. Or, I sneak behind the other team and kill 'em lots.

Or I just rush and die. I'm a tactician about half the time.

I don't tend to do a lot of competitive multiplayer but when I do I tend to like to take the reactive approach.

In a FPS (assuming you're playing for any fun/challenge, not just teabagging opportunities) I think it's fair to watch someone spawn, pick up a good weapon (if they're not well armed) and only attack once they've either been armed for a few seconds now, or they actually see you and are just about to react. That's not really appropriate for a many more modern titles, but it was, more or less, in times past that I recall.

Generally the only other thing I play with people is Smash, and in that case I tend to opt for chivalry in duel rather than "so it's down to us but I have 4 more lives than you", at least when I play with closer friends or a really worthy opponent. Equalize the lives and relative damage taken, step back, ready, FIGHT!

I hate campers. Especially campers with shotguns.

I much prefer the whole, " Run around with my submachine gun and spray and pray" method.

Yeah, I'm a camper. So what. I killed you, you know where I am. I killed you again, that means you just suck even more.

I believe that a kill is a kill, no matter how it's done.

HELL NO. I run everywhere. Sprint all the time. got marathon and lightweight as my first pro perks in CODMOD2 (I actually had commando first, but that is way easier to get) And even in other stuff im always moving (got a pretty awesome strafe in halo)

although i have to admit i used to be a hardcore camper. i would move to a slightly different spot after every kill. it was deadly, but yes i ruined the game back then

I camp when it is tactically advantageous to do so. Notice that people who complain are almost always on the other team? I'm not going to cripple myself because someone on the other team would rather I not use a strategy. I'm sure they also wish I didn't shoot them. They will get neither of these things.

I don't camp, i prefer to think of it this way: take an element of a multiplayer game, and ask yourself, if everybody did this, would the game still work? if the answer is no, then the tactic/weapon/upgrade/whatever is unfair and/or not part of the way the game is supposed to be played.

camping, in case you are wondering, would cause the games to cease working should everybody choose to do nothing but camp, therefore it is bad (IMO).

maaaaaaybe.

I always check corners when I run around. I use 10 sensitivity to do it faster even.

Why do people hate campers so much? It's a strategy just like anything else in the game. If they're camping you should know where the person is after encountering them once and should have an advantage the second time. I get tired of stupid teammates who whine about someone camping with a shotgun or something but keep running into the room the same way over and over.

Remember the Internet definition of "camping":

"If you hide in a corner and shoot me in the back as I run by, you're a camper. If I hide in a corner and shoot you in the back as you run by, I'm using strategy."

i.e. the "It's bad if you do it, but good if I do it" rationale.

I play sneaky, not blatant corner hiding.

If 3 enemies are rushing me, I take my sweet ass time and try to seem less important and then go for the kill from the side or behind.

I understand if some kid is prone in a corner with a shotgun for a whole match. but moving every second is a terrible strategy. Unless I have an assault rifle then I spray and prey.
