God these threads are always so lame. I mean, the Escapist has a lot of stupid, pointless threads that come up every other day, but these "hey guys am i pretty? let's all post pix and have a collective ego wank-off" ones are the worst.

The irony is that the very act of validating this thread with a response actually causes you to drop about 3 points on the attractiveness scale just for sheer lameness. That's not me talking, that's just science...

I think in any case, it's not healthy for people's identity to be dependent on one specific trait, be it an interest, a physical characteristic, a job, a possession, a personality trait, anything.

People are not just one thing, they are a diverse collection of things. Embrace everything that you are. Be open, fluid and dynamic, not closed, static and standardized. You are who you were, are and will be. You are beautiful.

I'll admit, I'm not always comfortable with who I am, looks included. I'm constantly having to readjust to myself, and over the last year, I've started being more open and expressive about other aspects of myself, and so I'm exploring things I'm not exactly comfortable with. Sometimes I feel out of place because of that, or I'm stuck in a new identity or look, and I'm afraid of going back to how I used to be. But no matter how insecure I get about how I look, I remember I'm not a static person. Some days I'll look like this, and other days I'll look like that, and that's fine.

And on a side note, your pictures look good. You have a friendly, warm look.

It's strange, because despite having been in three relationships, I've never been told that I've been cute/handsome/good looking etc.

Frankly, on the outside, I rather dislike how I look, being average height, slim and rather gaunt. And on the inside, I dislike how I am. Regardless of how others view me, I perceive myself as being wholly inadequate (with all the self-loathing that comes with it) and get a kick out of emotionally abusing myself.
