I don't remember anyone calling me awkward but generally people seem to avoid me and give me strange looks as if to say I am awkward.

My ex-boyfriend once told me I have social skills to rival Spock's. If that's not awkward, I don't know what is.

...I love Spock though, so it's ok.

Probably a lot of people here are socially akward, due to the low tolerance for gamers and comic book/science fiction fans in society. I, for one, have learned that walking up to someone and pressing the 'A' button is not a good way to start a conversation.

Yes I have and the situation you described could fit me perfect. there is no real translation of the word "Awkward" in my language so no I haven't been called awkward yet.
This has happend to me very often:
your with some friends.
A friend tells you a dirty joke, you laugh about it and nobody else bothered with it.
you counter the joke with another dirty joke.
and suddenly everyone is silent and gives you weird looks.
I can't stand that, it happens to me all the time!

Not really, but only because I tend to get a measure of someone before I talk to them.

You ever been told or said you were awkward? I don't mean obvious things like thrusting your pelvis at the person you are speaking to directly but in general have you talked to someone and then they said you were awkward.

I got told I was awkward the other day when I was queueing for BBQ food and just being friendly I asked a girl (or cow even) who I had known already, where she got the dress from and she just said I was awkward and I argued with her for a while.
When most people say "You're awkward", what they're really saying is "You're not like me".

I don't think anyone's actually told me that to my face, but I know for a fact that I am socially awkward.

I'm very socially awkward.

Trying to start conversations with people is just gonna end in disaster for me, unless of course they wanted to have a conversation that's gonna end up either weird or awkward. In that case, fission mucking accomplished!

i can talk to about 3 people at once, about 6 if im friends with them all, so i know im awkward. but basically, my friend group is the awkward people. most of them are friends from at least two years ago, and the only reason i hang out with them is because i was in the maths class of one last year.
but with my friends, groin thrusting is pretty normal.

Awkward seems to be my middle name or something. It's a safe bet to say that at least 3/5 of the people I've talked to ever (be it at school, in the store, or at home) have told me that I'm awkward. Hell, even my parents and my sister have told me that. (And that number is probably rounded down rather generously.)

Well, it's not like I give a darn. Talking to myself is a damn good way to do some serious thought-processing, even if it is in public. I've also been told that I'm awkward for being lonely, yet still being picky when it comes to girls I'd like to date. *sigh*

Extremely. Big groups, small groups, I'm always the one that just kind of sits there and doesn't say much.

It doesn't help that I have a bit of a stutter...

I'm socially awkward. :/

Even my family says so. But that might be because I'm not close with any of them and when we have a family function (Much like the 4th coming up) I tend to just sit there and ignore them all. They do try to talk to me but I just don't feel comfortable talking to them.
