I don't agree personally with Activision, they killed two great series. Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk. Why? Because they decide to cash-cow all our beloved games by releasing new unfinished titles and expansions every 6-12 months.

I'm glad that Blizzard is telling Activision to take a hike and stay out of their business, I don't want to see an expansion for Starcraft 2 coming out every single year to kill the franchise.
Oh, you mean like how they're breaking up one game into three and selling each for full price with Starcraft 2?

Yeah, stopped buying their games. Firing people who made you a billion+ dollars, and the whole taking fun out of making games(Kotick). Forget that.

No. I don't approve of their business practices (i.e. the whole IW business), but I don't care enough to not buy games I want to buy.

Though most of the games I buy are published by EA anyway.

Doubt I will buy another Guitar Hero game (cries on the inside) but otherwise no. I am not boycotting Activision.

Boycotting a company is stupid. Really stupid. Especially over something as trivial as video games. If you have a problem with a company, do something about it. Don't sit there like a smug know it all and say "I'm boycotting them!".

Oh, you're boycotting them? So you wont buy their games? O.K...

I doubt Activision really care. I know I certainly don't.

If I like the look of a game - I buy it. If I don't - I don't buy it. It's pretty simple. Activision don't produce a whole lot of games I really like, so I don't buy much of their stuff anyway.

No. Just because I dislike the publisher, that's no reason to punish the developer. So, on the very rare occasion Activision lets their developers put out a game that actually has a soul, like Call of Duty 4, I will buy it. The closest I come to boycotting is that if given the choice between two games that I'm equally interested in and one is by Activision, I'll buy the non-Activision game first.

No, if they make a game I want I will buy it. I really don't care about their business practices. Yes, it might suck for a person who works for or with them to get laid off or fired and if it happened to me or my family, I might change my mind (not that I would not buy a game I liked because of it) but there are lots of places out there for them and if they are good at what they do, they'll bounce back.

I don't even care about the yearly sequels. I just don't buy them if I don't like them. A new COD isn't stopping a new (insert whatever game is niche and might not sell as well) from being made if the person making it is determined to make it.

well considering i'm not interested in any of their games outside of COD4, yeah, i guess i'm boycotting.

i don't care for any of their games really, and bobby kotick is a fucking prickfuck fuckface. so yeah, this is already natural for me to do.

Fuck 'boycotting'

That's all really, if I don't want to buy a game then I won't but I really hate the idea of thinking you are sticking it to a company by not buying their games when in reality you are doing nothing.

You know what? I'll get behind this boycott. It's not like they ever release anything worth buying anyway...

Speaking of which, in such a "boycott" is it allowable to purchase a game used? I mean the developer gets nothing from it anyways.

Why the heck would I boycott them? Ya, I don't like Bobby Kotick or a lot of the things they do, but they provide me with decent games and therefore I'm going to continue to buy their games.

If they screw up Prototype 2 or Diablo 3, those bastards are dead to me forever! I don't usually buy Activision's games, mostly for the fact that those games are complete and utter cow shit.

My two least favorite companies are EA and Activision. They're both huge corporations, and they both employ asshole tactics to get their money. The difference between the two is that EA actually makes a good game every so often.

And lets face it: Activision would be dead without COD.

I have friends that work for an activision-owned studio, so I really would feel crappy boycotting them entirely.

Also, I don't know what they've done except read the market.

It's not a news flash that re-tread tedious crud sells better in the market at large than ground-breaking innovative gaming. More people are willing to pay for Call of Duty 47: Modern helicopter mechanic than for an indy experimental title.

Don't blame Activision for reading market trends and trying to maximize profits. That's what companies are FOR. The point of a corporation is to make money.

If we have a problem with it we have only ourselves to blame for sucking up pablum. Boycotting activision would be shooting yourself in the foot to spite your leg if you enjoy the games they put out, if you don't, there's a massive indy community now thanks to new ways of publishing content and the magic that is the XBLA and Steam, buy indy if you want to see a change, but if you enjoy what the major studios are pushing out, and you know what, I often do, go for it.
