Are you getting Bulletsorm or Killzone 3?

Neither.

Although i do like Killzone to a degree, i never finished the second game. (And i'm occasionally playing the first on my PS2 when i'm in the computer room, as my PS2 is hooked to a small TV beside my monitor) and i don't feel there's any point in getting the third game before i've completed the second. Multiplayer isn't all that important to me and the main game can't be that much different from its predecessor, except for advancing the story and one or two quirks, like the jetpack section and some minor refinements. It's not worth dropping £40 just yet.

I'm not purchasing Bulletstorm, as i felt the demo was somewhat lackluster. It didn't really feel like an FPS, it felt like a Tony Hawk game gone a bit weird. I don't like the whole "score points for crazy kills" system. I find it a huge pain in the arse to repeatedly come up with elaborate ways to kill things. Sure it's novel the first couple of times, but then you realise the whole game is built around this mechanic, and it just feels tired and forced. I didn't like the grapple or the slow-mo effect from said grapple or kicking someone. I tried to be 'badass' and kick a guy down a hole, but the slow-mo effect had him ever so slowly falling to his demise before it wore off, that i wasn't sure if he'd fall down the hole and actually die at all. It just felt incredibly awkward. I prefer a fast paced, no holds barred shoot 'em up. I was looking for something like the original Painkiller title, i guess. I didn't get that. I got some kind of weird Gears of War meets Tony Hawk hybrid. Some of the discomfort might also be down to it using the Unreal engine, as i associate first person shooter games using that engine with Unreal Tournament as i used to play it extensively, and it's a far cry from that. I just didn't like it.

So instead my £40 has gone to a myriad of budget titles and second hand games that i would have otherwise overlooked. And i couldn't be happier.

Yes.

Oh wait, it's a choice between the two? Bulletstorm no doubt, Killzone 3's beta seemed exactly the same as Killzone 2, and I wasn't overly impressed. Bulletstorm I...I enjoyed.

My "Buy" list for this year...
New PS3 controller.
In no particular order from here downward
MvC3.
LBP2 (collectors edition).
Bulletstorm.
DNF.
Batman Arkham City.
Possibly one of the new pokemon if I can find a working, cheap DS.

Bulletstorm, no question. I don't have a PS3, I don't want a PS3, and Killzone 3 is a PS3 exclusive, which I didn't care for in the first place.

Well I have a PS3 and still don't care for it either, good sir.

I'm getting bulletstorm because Killzone 2 was the worst £40 I have ever spent while the Duty calls ad was worth the £40 on it's own.

In all likelihood, neither. I liked the KZ3 beta a lot until I realized that the Infiltrator class was cheap in that you see a green name above an enemy who's using it unless you're close enough for them to kill you with their shotgun.
Yeah there were a lot of complaints about this on the KZ forums.. GG (Guerrilla Games) will probably give them more stamina but not unlimited sprint, and tone down the shotgun. My advice to you is to:

1. Play as a tactician who can use the spot and Mark Ability to highlight enemies on screen periodically (even disguised infiltrators)

2. If not a tactician, always look at your mini map. Infiltrators (even disguised) will not be a green dot on the radar and chances are when a guy is sprinting full speed towards you hes trying to gouge your eyes out. ;D

Marvel vs Capcom 3, bitches!

What other game lets you team up Amaterasu and Viewtiful Joe and allows you to kick the crap out of Deadpool?

It's awesome I tells ya!
This. I cannot wait to beat up superheroes using Dante and Wesker!

Bulletstorm and Homefront I have preordered right now. Duke Nukem Forever and Pokemon White are on my list, too. Only Killzone game I've played is the PSP one, and I might try 3, but doubt it. I'm not a huge fan of FPS on consoles.

I'm most likely going to be getting Bulletstorm after the price drops a bit. The demo was fun and the whole thing looks just retarded enough for me to forgive the fact that it's retarded, but Portal 2 and Dead Space 2 are the the only games I'm going to be buying right away this year. I'll most likely be giving Killzone 3 a pass, though; other than the fact that it has a jetpack, it just doesn't look that interesting.

I'm not getting either, first, because I don't have a PS3 (for Killzone 3) and second, because I don't have the money.

I'm still eagerly waiting for Brink, in part because I already preordered it like 6 months ago and it gets released a day before my birthday =D

I may get Bulletstorm when the price lowers a bit.

Killzone 3 FTW! Seriously, I played 2's multiplayer for 80+ hours. The beta is far from enough to whet my appetite for ISA blood! \m/

I do intend to get Bulletstorm, but maybe for cheap in a little while. I'm in no rush.
Similar plan for me. I also spent 80+ hours in KZ2 multi and KZ3 I can already tell feels alot better.

I see bulletstorm as the fun but potentially repetitive shooter worth a rental or cheap purchase before re-selling.

KZ3 will be a stayer for me. Can't wait. Kill the ISA dogs!

Neither.

Both games make my face go "meh".

Killzone 3 just represents the bland conformist directions most games seem to take now (though it looks pretty), and I am almost positive BulletStorm is not worth that 60 bucks I'd have to put down.

Big year for gaming, not gonna get ahead of myself.

bulletstorm looks awesome. i will nab it when it hits a steam sale. i need a new computer first though. im working on saving up. i need 600 dollars.... anyone wanna donate?
-Does Heavy laugh-
If you think 600 dollars will get you anywhere on High-Very High from 2011-2014, you're severely wrong. However, if you're OK with playing Low-Mid settings, than 600 bucks can last you till Q4 2012... which is probably when Diablo III will come out :).
sandy bridge i5: $200, 4gb ram $50, 2 tb hdd $100 and recycle my SSD, monitor, case, psu, get ATI hd 6850 or nvidia gtx 460 $200. adding another later for crossfire/sli when i have more money. i know what im doing. i should be fine.

edit: my laptop from 2 years ago that cost 450 still runs all games - including crysis at at least medium settings with 30+ fps.

I got a very heavy case of battle fatigue after play KZ2 for a while. Run over here, kill the wave of baddies, run over there, kill another wave of baddies. It was just the same thing over and over. On the other hand, I have played the BS demo multiple times and it was a blast finding new ways to kill hapless victims. It is not just leash-pull-kick-repeat, there is much more to it if you are creative enough. My budget can only handle one FPS this month and it is going to be Bulletstorm.

The impression I have been getting from people who been claiming that BulletStorm will be gimmicky and repetitive just have the wrong mindset about playing the game.

I plan on getting Killzone 3 eventually, just not for a while.

Before anyone mentions it, I am not a huge multiplayer player. Online features don't influence my shopping habits as much as the single player feature.

Wow you know that's a good question I didn't realise they were out on the same day. I didn't get on with Killzone 2 at first but after tweeking the control sensitivity and realising aiming down the sights isn't realy needed I got sucked in to it and found it far more interesting than most shooters out now.

I liked Bulletstorm but for some reason it felt cheap, I don't know how to describe it, it just feels like I would buy it only when it's on sale whereas with Killzone 3 I could see myself buying it day one and getting my moneys worth. So killzone I guess though even with that I may wait, damn you marvel vs capcom 3 for taking my money this month.

I don't think I'll get either. I considered Bulletstorm but I played the demo and its not really my style. I like crazy over-the-topness, but it might have been too much. I might pick it up when its cheaper. And I've never been a Killzone fan so no chance of that.
