Definately getting Bulletstorm, not sure on KZ3. The beta had some issues and I got annoyed with it.

Also curious; why do I keep hearing this whole "Bulletstorm's killshot "gimmick" is going to get old after a while" thing? It makes no sense. In every other fps you just repeatedly aim down the sights and shoot people in the same old way with the same old guns every single time and nobody ever gets bored with that, but in BS there are more ways to kill people than in any other fps and somehow that's a "boring gimmick"?

Really?
Tell me, do you plan on doing over the top kills on every enemy? No you, won't by the end of the game you'll find yourself doing the same pull enemy towards me then kick him combo. Other games like KZ3 have online multiplayer that has various game modes to keep it geeling fresh.
Killzones multiplayer modes are fresh? Those same modes that I played 1000 times already in the last game and which haven't changed a bit? Ok then...
Yeah like the new Operations mode, the bigger maps than before, the more weapons than the last game, the better spawn system, the mech suit and the jetpack and the new abilities for each class that weren't there in KZ2 are nothing new
/s
Operations mode just plays like extended Search and Destroy, the beta map wasn't any bigger than the previous games, most of the weapons ARE the same and the new ones like the silenced smgs were crap, the mech suit wasn't in there so I can't comment and neither was the jetpack, although that seems more like a gimmicky double jump than anything and will barely be used and most of the abilities are the same, just changed slightly. The only thing that's drastically changed is the spawn system, which isn't exactly a major selling point for a game.

There's nothing really new or inovative about KZ3 and you're still just shooting people in the same old way as before, so I go back to my original question; how is BS "gimmicky?" Oh and to answer your question, actually yes I will still have fun grappling people towards me and then kick/shooting them away in BS after many hours, because that's still more fun than "aim down sights, pull trigger" that I've donw a millions times before in any other game.

Also KZ3 doesn't have a gun that shoots a pair of grenades attached to a chain at people.
Overgeneralizing can make any game seem boring. Halo is just guys in green shoots shooting each other and same looking maps. :D

KZ3 has much bigger maps than Frozen Dam (FD is actually one of the medium sized ones) and they added some abilities to the game. IDK where the medic ability to revive himself and deploy a mini sentry was in KZ2, or the Saboteurs ability to have unlimited sprint, or the Marksman ability to jam radars, etc.. KZ2 didn't have brutal melee and like you mentioned, EXOs or jetpacks. All the things I mentioned are not even present in anyway to another FPS (well only KZ2) but yet its nothing new. You certainly can't find any of the KZ3 elements all in one package from another game. But yeah KZ2 and 3 are basically the exact same thing...

BS is based around the gimmick that for 10 hours you will enjoy a game without a hint of a compelling story that is about finding ways to execute enemies in extraordinarily fashion. Sounds fun right?:D

Well it won't be once you find that there is a limit to the number of executions you can do and that listening to the same "Fuck Yea!" oneliner everytime you kill something gets very annoying. The game will get to a point where you'll be faced with a lot of enemies at once (and especially on harder difficulties) it wouldn't be efficient to try and do an over the top kill on every single one of them. Thus, you'll begin doing the fast 'lift in the air and kick' combo to dispatch of enemies over and over and the initial thrill of being able to pull off those moves will leave. If this game had some sort of MP it could add some sort of life to the game (which I almost guarantee will get boring after a few hours) but no it doesn't. Epic expects buyers to be able to entertain themselves playing the same levels over and over vs bots. the only redeeming thing I can think of about this game is the fact that it has coop. This may lead me to someday buy this when it costs $20.

I liked KZ1 on the PS2, despite the flaws. I bought KZ2, and never really got into it. I've probably only sunk around 10 hours into it, but I'm 'one of those guys' who found the controls irksome, cumbersome and slow. While I 'will' get KZ3 because the control issues are supposed to be fixed, I'll probably continue the trend of waiting until a price drop is implemented, like what I did with Infamous, GoW3, Heavy Rain and Resistance2.

That being said, I'll probably get Bulletstorm before KZ3.

I'm personally getting KZ simply because the beta is epic I've yet to try the SP demo but that'll be available in a couple days.

I have the Bulleytstorm demo on my PS3 but I've yet to try it. I'm still iffy on the whole 'killing people in different ways will be fun after a few hours' thing but I'll see reviews down the road.

How 'bout you?
Killzone 3, and the Sharp shooter. I'm not on a budget of any kind so money doesn't concern me much.

Bulletstorm. I love running through the demo, finding new combos and improving my score. If that makes me some simpleton who's easily pleased watching numbers rise, then so be it.

Well whatever then dude, clearly we're not going to agree on anything here so there's little point discusing this further, though I do kinda resent your assumption that "I'LL" get bored of BS after 10 hours. BS for me seems to be the fps version of DMC, and I played both DMC3 AND 4 through dozens of times, on every difficulty, repeatedly trying to get higher scores by killing enemies in ever more elaborate and stylish ways and it never got boring, and that was without a co-op mode. By contrast I played KZ2 campaign mode (also about 10 hours long) once. Ok so the multiplayer has new maps and a few new skills, whoop de do, it still plays the same as ever, that was the point I was making originally, that it is still fundamentally the same gameplay underneath and for me just isn't as interesting any more. I want something different. BS does something different. I couldn't understand why people were criticising it for being different, when they then go and play something that is essentially the same as ever.

I still don't understand and apparantly you can't explain it, so at this point I don't really care any more.

Killzone 3 definitely, then well see what people say about Bulletstorm, but since I have both a PS3 and a Gaming PC, there should be no problem, Killzone 3 on the PS3 and Bulletstorm on the PC

Maybe Bulletstorm, due to Killzone 3's console exclusivity.

But money is in short supply, so maybe not. Stupid not having money...

I generally don't play FPS, but I played the Bulletstorm Demo and it was pretty awesome and I am thinking I may eventually get it. Games I'm more focused on right now are Mass Effect 2 and Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

Why are these the only options? Neither, sorry.

What makes KZ3 generic when NO other game plays like it, or looks anything like it?
And that's a good thing? If it was a great game there would be imitators wouldn't there? As it stands there's not. There's nothing it does that stands out either. For that matter it's just WWII in space. That's kinda generic. I mean the Helghast even look like Germans WITHOUT the helmets.

So is it reasonable to call it generic now, even if you happen to like it?

Looks aren't everything. If you read the story, the Helghast are actually the "good guys", and the ISA are the people oppressing them. They just happened to take a page or two out of the Nazi handbook.

Yeah except they have a very militaristic society where soldiers are killed for uniform violations (dialog from the game). But yeah listening to the back story it does seem the ISA are imposing their will own an independent nation.

On topic I'll probably get KZ3 I may have to cancel my MK preorder and more than likely my MVC3 preorder as I'm probably better off waiting till the end of the year when they're 20 bucks cheaper.

I'll most likely be getting Killzone 3 and end up borrowing Bulletstorm from a friend. I've played the demo of each, and I feel that Killzone 3 is more of a polished game. Bulletstorm was fun for a bit, but I'm afraid that it'll be nothing but F.O.O. Strategies [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/extra-credits/2738-Playing-Like-a-Designer-Part-2] with the combo system. It's like, yeah, you could shoot a guy four times in the air with the shotgun for points, but why bother when you can get the same amount of points, and quicker, with a simpler combo? I know that you get less points the more you do a combo, but still.

I've played Killzone 2 and it and its successor just seem like more generic fps's to me. I say go with the one that's actually bringing something new to the formula.

Also, the bulletstorm demo was AWESOME!!!

I might get Bulletstorm someday... wouldn't even consider a Killzone game... but I simply don't play shooters without my keyboard and mouse.
