It's terrible all the stuff I use are electronic and if they run out of power I'm basically screwed and I'll have to stare at the wall or something like that. I do have enough food to survive so I shouldn't be dead by the time it ends I'll just be really bored the entire time.
It would upset me to not be able to tell my friends "Hey, I'll be out of contact for a while." but that's really not a problem unless something major happened. The rest of my family, however, is not quite as adaptable at being away from their computers or video games. My mother complains enough to be offline for ten minutes, so her withdrawal for a few days would be worse than going through my own, and the kids would do their own grumbling to be stuck reading, playing board games, or *gasps* GOING OUTSIDE TO PLAY.
Now getting enough hot water for everyone to bathe? No means of cooking at home, and likely restaurants being out too? That could be more problematic, but still less of an issue if people leave the fridge shut to keep as much cold in as possible. Not likely to happen with bored and hungry kids...

That would be thoroughly shit... luckily living in the extreme south of England nothing hardcore enough to knock out power for more than a couple of hours ever happens and it's never actually happened where I am for more than a minute or so. If it were to happen I'd be in trouble, everything runs on leccy, I wouldn't even be able to cook...no wait, I lie, I have a single small gas camping stove with an indeterminate amount of gas in it. I do have a couple of wind up lamps and torches so I'd have some low light levels when things got dark.My real problem would be getting my daily medication as I only ever pick up 2 or 3 days worth at a time and if all the shops were closed...guess I'd just have to go out armed with a brick, a ski mask and some gloves to collect.
Other than that my handheld batteries don't hold for 4 days, and I would have to spin my records myself, no real problems.
I just came back form a month hiking in the Welsh mountains and living with what I could carry. I'm actually unused to technology, and would happily just go and lurk until the power came back.
After the hurricane in 2003, large parts of Richmond, VA were without power for several weeks. Lots of grilled and canned goods were consumed, and bathing was less pleasant. That really was pretty rough, but after that...a few days without power ain't no thing. I certainly get a lot more reading done without electronic distractions. Plus, living by candlelight can be fun (for a while, at least).
Provided my camera was charged up so I could film all the other young'uns freaking out over the loss of Facebook.
We usually get two or so powercuts a year here, usually lasting all night. It's a peaceful time of reading by candle light. Or using laptops, whatever. But we can cook without electricity or gas cookers, so longer powercuts wouldn't be too bad.

I got my batarang and my sword cane to fend off looters, but, in all honesty, I live above a Starbucks, so they'll probably be distracted...
I would go crazy from boredom. All I have to spend my time that doesn't rely on electricity are my weapons. Zeus help he who decides to try and loot my house during the outage. They shall find why the axe was so feared on the ancient battlefield.
Living on the outskirts of a major city has it's pluses. I can only expect rioters and looting should power go out in town. Thank god I live away from the center of the city.
We had an ice storm this last winter that knocked out power for half our county, and the power was out for three days. In a Michigan winter. I'm glad I was far away at college instead.
That's not really that huge an issue. If you had said MONTHS, two or three MONTHS without electricity would be nothing short of the apocolypse. But i could easily go a few days of just having fish and chips for dinner, or a sandwhich. Ok, most of the stuff in the fridge might spoil, but then i supose we would just make some sort of pie.
Bottom line, so long as my DS and books don't spontaneously combust, or my house gets levitated 200 ft from the ground, i should be fine... any longer than that and i WILL become a cannibal. A few weeks, if someone comes to check in, they won't find me: they will find some demented golum-esque creature, with somebodies arm in my mouth. Pale skin and jagged teeth, no hair but a massive beard.
