Inspired by the recent article on the game "I wanna be the guy".

I'm curious how many of you fine people have attempted, or perhaps even beaten what has become well known as a very challenging game.

Myself, I'm playing through it on the default difficulty (Hard) and am currently stuck at the 5th boss, the mother brain.

How far have you got in this game? Have you played it at all? Do you think its a stupid waste of time, or a real challenge worth pursuing that will make you feel like a better skilled gamer?

I'm of the view that its a challenge of my platforming skill, and I want to beat it to prove to myself that I'm capable. This is mainly why I have stuck with it thus far throughout all the dick moves and boss fights its thrown in my face.

I admire anyone with the willpower and patience to complete it.

After COD4 Veteran I stopped torturing myself with exceedingly hard games.

Completed it on Hard. Once. After hours and hours of frustration.

I celebrated that victory, like if I'd had just beaten Battletoads.

Then I promplty uninstalled it. I never want to see that accursed IWBTG game again...

I've always been intrigued by it, but haven't attempted it.
I reccomend giving it a go, its free to download and it could be a nice waste of an hour or two if you have it spare :)

Ah, CoD4 Veteran. I got through about 3/4 of that game on Veteran, and then just lost all patience with it and gave up. I hope that doesn't happen this time round with IWBTG!

Well done you! What difficulty, may I ask? And do you remember how long it took you?

Ah, only once could I claim that and that was with Mechwarrior. I had taken the missions with a Nova as my character Gyrefalcon (hence the screen name) and had started to take them with only a Kit Fox. Sadly, I never got to finish. (It was my roommate's computer and they got an out-of-state job which ended the dream).

But I doubt I could beat "I Want To Be The Guy".

Yeah, took me a while. it was very rewarding to finally finish it though.

The MW veteran mode is a lot more fair.

I got to the second save point. Woohoo.
To be fair, I'm never on it for too long - mainly due to its tendency to crash. Damn Vista.

Pain and frustration, mainly.

Ok. WOW. This game is worse than Battletoads. And that's saying something!

I've completed it twice... Once on Medium just to get familiar with how to finish the puzzles and then again on hard just recently. In both I've died in excess of 2500 and I do NOT plan on doing that again!

It's just trial and error... if you knew exactly what the environment was going to do it wouldn't be hard, it's just a load of traps.

Tried it, haven't finished it, find it a waste of time.
If I want to torture myself I'd rather do it with a game that looks pretty, like Touhou!

CoD4 Veteran was an experience, one I enjoyed even if a controller gave it's life to help me finish it, plus the crowning moment was doing Mile High Club on veteran. WaW was just torture, the amount of grenade spam meant I gave up trying to finish that on veteran about half way through, MW2 veteran was noy so bad by comparision.
Yeah I heard that from a few people so I didn't bother to try and do it, grenade spam from the AI is not my idea of challenging, it's just cheap.

I loved MW2 on Veteran though... perfect mix of challenge and fun. Only one or two really tough parts.

I tried it, but after dying a lot of times I just gave up. I saw no point in trying to complete the game.
