Ok, so there tend to be lots of anti-halo/-religion/-vs/-(insert type of)thread threads floating around. And there are three things I want to know.

1. How do you, fellow escapists, tend to argue your point on the forums?
(flood your opponent with large amounts of facts and figures, call their argument into disrepute, make one all encompassing point which you use against anything and everything they say?)

2. What do you think is the best way to have a discussion/argument?
(The two-person lengthy discussion which excludes everyone else, or the accumulation of many people all stating things for one side or the other and see which side has the most supporters?)

3. How do you argue outside of the escapist forums?
(cool and collected, loud and proud, irritatingly logical, or just plain obscure and confusing?)

In answer to my own questions,
1. I like to undermine their agruments then lead into points of my own.

2. I prefer the one-to-one discussion as it is much easier to manage and keep track of.

3. I prefer the irritatingly logical approach/cool and collected, as it tends to stop people getting worked up which tends to be how most people win their arguments (by being loud and not listening to what you say).

If I have the facts and figures I will use them, if I don't I will try keep the argument to this is my opinion that is yours.

1. I use Verbal Dueling. it pretty much levels the playing field. you can call them on anything, even if it's not part of the arguement.
2.how should I know? I just tend not to get into them
3. Obscure and confusing, with a touch of logic. (they don't notice the logic because it's so obscure and confusing)

Im my british nature, sit down in the pub and talk it over with a pint/tea. Of course i cannot do this over the internet, so i like to pretend everyone is holding a cuppa tea and a slice of lemon cake (all while wearing top hats and suits). It helps me look at situations logically.

Well, it's difficult to argue over the internet, only seeing someone's written opinions and probably an avatar that does not at all resemble them.

In real life, you don't actually have to argue. All that matters is that you are very convincing. That's how you can get others to do whatever the fuck you want them to do. It works almost as well as mind control.

I'm not pathetic enough to argue over the Internet. Unless it's something I strongly believe in.
IRL I argue with a lot of shouting, hitting and ignoring.

I actually Have a qualification in Arguing from a course I took a college. So I use that.
I follow a basic structure of several reasons leading towards a Conclusion. I then test my reasons based on several logic tests and fix any flaws that need be fixed. After that I post.
If anyone quotes me saying I'm wrong them I take to the offensive. And attack their reasoning until their argument looks so flawed that they have no legs to stand on...

EDIT: Oh yeah outside of Escapist I'm very tall and well built. No one argues with me.

Just make sure your point of view is backed with real facts and figures. Also, be pen to others points of views. Unless they're outright wrong.
