Arkham Asylum 2? Maybe "If People Like the Game"

Is Rocksteady Studios thinking about a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum? Says lead narrative designer Paul Crocker: they're just "waiting to see if people like the game."

A sequel to a critically (and commercially) successful game? Wow, what a novel idea! The Rocksteady team may have earned some well-deserved time to relax, kick back, and sit on their laurels [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/6467-Review-Batman-Arkham-Asylum], but surely at some point people are going to start asking: What's next for the Caped Crusader? There are plenty of Batman villains that didn't get a chance to shine in Arkham... let's do something with them, perhaps?

So is Rocksteady planning a sequel? VG247 asked [http://www.vg247.com/2009/09/04/batman-2-were-just-waiting-to-see-if-people-like-the-game-says-rocksteady/] Arkham's lead narrative designer Paul Crocker, who responded that at the moment, Rocksteady was "waiting to see if people like the game." It's a perfectly fair answer, though... I think when you have a 90+ score on Metacritic, and are topping sales charts worldwide? It's a pretty fair assumption that people might like your game.

Still, it's their right not to talk about a sequel for the moment. But what about DLC? Are there any plans for that? "We don't talk about the DLC, I'm afraid," said Crocker. That's an interesting way to put it - "the" DLC? Seems a bit specific to me. Alas, hints (whether unintentional or otherwise) seem to be the best we'll get for now.

Don't they already know that the game is loved by almost anyone?

And it makes me sick to wait another 11 days.

The game is going to have ten sequels at this rate. Also the Batman picture owns.

The ending hinted at a sequel anyway, I hope to see the Penguin in the next one!

Arkham Asylum 2 is definitely coming out and I probably won't get Arkham Asylum 1 til the sequel comes out.

I guess everyone at Rocksteady has shockingly low self-esteem. "we're not sure people really like it..."

even the ending points on a sequel, because
a TV news caster talks about two-face robbing a bank. maybe him and the Penguin could be the main villains for the next game

Hmm, I didn't know people would like this game. Very intriguing. Well done to the people who made it, and I hope they make a sequel.

I really hope they do. The game got a Guinness Record, so it deserves it. I want Catwoman in the next one! :D

I already came up with a title.

The ending of the game doesn't really point to a sequel, it just high lights the point that Commissioner Gordon made about him needing a rest, all that shows is that Batman is constantly busy.
Also the info cast on the bottom of the main game screen says there is free DLC on the way

Honestly? I still need to get this, but I don't know if I'm down for a sequel. Not only was Arkham Asylum the most celebrated comic book game to date, but the sequel will have some ridiculous shoes to fill. Think Perfect Dark Zero.

Oh well, I'm sure It'll be great ever way.

Killer Croc with Titan is going to be a ***** seeing as he was basically the 'epic boss' already :p.

I loved this game, a sequel that sticks to the quality of the original (a not so novel concept) would be fantastic.

You miss the scene after the credits? It most certainly points at something very bad that could be a sequel (or at least DLC). It is up in my spoiler tag :p.

Certainly cheating yourself. Unlike basically any other option you can find on a shelf this is a pretty solid game :).

Or if you want to be more positive, you could think of this game as Batman Begins and the sequel as The Dark Knight.

...Cheeky bastard, that actually works. >_<
