Arkham Asylum - red flags?

The only way they could fuck it up is if the boss battles suck and its only around 5 hours.

Even if this is a short game, I have a feeling that it'll be good anyway. Some of my favorite games have been the ones that were only 5 or 6 hours long but they begged to be played multiple times.

Dead Rising was like that and it's been my favorite game since it came out. I know I've played it at least a dozen times and the whole campaign is only 6 hrs long.
Force Unleashed was another one that wasn't really lengthy but was fun enough to be played over and over. I played that one four times (once for each difficulty) right when I bought it and then a fifth time a few months later.

My biggest fear is that they're just showing off too much of the game in demo videos and such. Personally, I'm on Arkham Asylum media blackout until the game hits shelves and I finally get to play it.

There's a bit on metacritic about it. But we're still a week before, I actually don't notice reviews on websites come up until the day before release.

But I f*cking loved the demo so I'm getting it, if you liked the demo get it as well.

I too have tried the demo, and if it's anything like the demo it should be a lot of fun.

Play the demo 5 times in a row. If you don't like it don't get it. Considering how open these guys have been on the technical and gameplay side I'm not expecting any nasty suprises. They posted ten minute videos on youtube detailing the combat etc. I'd be more worried if it was hushed up with no demo.

No 30 second trailer with pre-rendered cut scenes on this game.

Metacrtic does have reviews on it, doesn't it? Not enough to form an overall rating but the 3 there are are all 95+. It's looking very good, and I know a couple of other reviews that aren't on metacritic have been equally glowing.

read gameinformer, they reviewed it and it got a great score. but if you're going to base your judgment on what people tell you, then you've got other problems

GI can eat a dick. They said Red Faction: Guerrilla was a great game, and that game blew.

According to their rating system, it was as good as Metal Gear Solid 3.

There's no point of getting paranoid over the quality of the game before it even comes out. Does it honestly matter so much because they don't have early reviews of the game?

I don't care what anyone says. Its fucking Batman!!!! There's only been like 1 or 2 bad Batman games so I have pretty high hopes for this one.

Plus, if it plays anything like the demo, its gonna kick ass.

I even have a little Batman Arcade game that's quite fun.

There are a few reviews and I think it got 9.0 in at least two of them, so they're probably waiting a bit longer with the majority of the reviews.

Very true. Most games that are short, usually have a good replay value. Take Portal for example. And I didn't think Dead Rising was that short. I loved it, but I didn't think it was that short. Maybe I was having too much fun to care.

Eidos is not the developer of this game.

Your correct, however Edios published all 3.

I have the Batman Returns SNES game on my computer. I still love that game. It's hard as fuck though.

Personally I'm not that bothered. I've played the demo (about 100 times - top score 1730 exp) and I am getting the game. Two reasons, I am a huge Batman fan, and also I fucking loved the demo, and I don't need Yahtzee or any other reviewer to tell me if a game is good or not. I will make up my own mind.

Having said all that, there is a review in this months OXM.

Haven't read it myself, but from what I've heard it's bad.

I heard on a recent podcast that the game is pretty long. The reviewer said he'd been playing for at least 10 hours and said he thought he still had a long way to go yet.

I'm with you on the boss battles though, I'm totally unclear as to how they'll play out. Mind you, I've been avoiding much of the trailers and dev diaries because I don't want to see too much of it.
