Okay ladies, gents, and others. Here's the situation. I didn't care for the Batman Arkham Asylum game. It may have partially been because I got it on PC and it didn't feel like a PC game to me. But that's not really the issue here. I've been considering getting Arkham City. By considering I, of course, mean I have a Batman fanatic friend who keeps telling me to get it (I'm a Green Lantern man myself). This leads me to the reason for this post looking for slightly less biased opinions on the whole matter.

So two questions:

1. If I didn't like Arkham Asylum will I like Arkham City? I know that is kinda vague but I can't really explain why I didn't like AA. My Batman fanatic friend mentioned above say AC was somewhat similar to Assassin's Creed, which I do like. Is there any truth to that?

2. If I didn't finish Arkham Asylum will I be missing much in terms of story from Arkham City?

1. I guess the similarity to AssCreed is while travelling through Arkham City, not-so-random groups of goons on the way to your missions, things like that. On the other hand, City is kinda just a bigger "world map" than Arkham Island. Which I, having liked Asylum (even on the PC), thought was simply more of a good thing.

2. Well, Joker's sick because of events in Asylum, and Bane's side mission is tied into it - other than that the plot connections are paper-thin. Well, Arkham Island is out-of-order, hence the city-prison. That's about it. I think. Largely.

I loved Arkham City despite thinking Arkham Asylum was just OK. The characters and location really elevated it. Getting from point A to point B is fun on its own. Also, boss fights are actually good in Arkham City.

Really, the only fair comparison to Assassin's Creed is that it also has an open world. Most of your time in the open world of Arkham City will be spent flying over rooftops so the only times you'll be going to the ground are to kick some ass or enter a building.

I wouldn't worry about not finishing Arkham Asylum. Just read a synopsis and watch some YouTube videos. It can be summed up as: Batman saves the day and all is well... for now.

All that being said, I highly recommend Arkham City. I'm by no means a Batman nerd but even I could appreciate the effort and attention to detail the writers put in to all the quests and Riddler side stuff.
