Well just like the title, Bohemia Interactive, the makers of Armed Assault (ARMA) have announced ARMA 3, and instead of being current military it's going for the futuristic view of the battle field that isn't too far off.

I just want to get the people's impression and what they would like to see from Bohemia.

Aww shit, just say this on another site and was going to bring the news here. Looks like I got beat to the punch though.

Anyway, I am super excited for this. This will just further prove that Codemasters don't have a fucking clue what to do with the Operation Flashpoint name.

I really hope they figure out torque on the tanks and APC's, and a decent damage model for the fixed wing aircraft.

All in all though, very excited for whats to come from them, there's a pretty big mod community that will support it too.

Arma is a military simulation. Most of the time you you can barely shoot and move, hopefully they'll sort that out and make the guns a bit steadier when moving at a walking pace.

There is a -lot- you can do though, think multiple roles in a tank, flying jets or helicopters, , and there're huge modding communities.

Well sad facts of life, you can't move and shoot accurately past 150m, and your guy does suffer from fatigue, that would be why it's a military simulator.

Every map in Battlefield wouldn't even fill up a single map in ArmA. ArmA is one of the most popular and accessible military simulators available to the public. And with all the recent additions made in the last few expansion packs, I can only guess at what kinds of features and advanced tech will be available to the player this time around.

Shooting accurately up to 250 metres is easy enough if you can see the target properly, the first time I played Cold War Crisis I was practically running in circles wondering where all the russians my allies were calling contact with where.

It hasn't gotten any easier for me.

My only issue is that the guns wobble like mad when you're trying to creep along, if you're moving smoothly then you shouldn't wobble too much.

They added british weapons and vehicles with the british mod pack but you get the light models free with operation arrowhead and the PMC added M8, SUVS, KA60, and

Not interested sorry. But after playing loads of Operation Flashpoint games, the industry's attempts at making a realistic military shooter make me vomit.

Also how the bloody hell do you pronounce Arma? is it Argh-Mah or A.R.M.A?

To be brutally honest, ARMA can be a very slow game, a lot of waiting, but, when you get there and work with others it's freaken amazing, nothing compares.

All very nice, but the improvements I was more concerned with were things like improved vehicle gunsights, FLIR, UAVS/UCAVS, improved lighting models and the such...

Operation Flashpoint
Don't you dare mention that game, it might as well be dead to the military simulator community.

Where as I am also tired of "realistic" military shooters, not many popular shooters really attain that, the closest one would be be battlefield.
Arma will always have a special place in my heart.

It's an acronym, so just pronounce it like you see it:
Arm (like that thing connection to your shoulder) Uh (like I don't know the question)
Arm-uh

You would find those in the ACE MOD community. better explosions and sounds, and so on.

Yes, I'm aware of ACE. Though I also greatly enjoy the whole Project Reality series for Batlefield 2.

Game with a big learning curve are usually unpopular. Armed Assault had a reputation for being overly buggy. So was ARMA 2 at its launch, but Bohemia Int. has to be one of those few developers, like valve, who will never stop supporting their game.

Another would be that you need a decent Rig to play this game, and it even look pretty on the lowest settings, I would definitely say, Crysis 2 has nothing on this game ;).

But the last part would be Realism, gamers like when games use a lot of photorealism stuff, but I really doubt we want realism itself for other gameplay mechanics, and ARMA2 is all about realism ... kinda .... I believe mods like ACE 2 fix the weird health mechanics the game has.

Bottomline, ARMA 2/Milsim games are a niche, not everyone will like them, and it definitely takes longer to learn how to enjoy it to its true potential. I personally, love the game because of its easy to use editor.

Well, time to get my brave squad of ChDakis to lead a super secret operation in Takistan(totally not afganistan) to find and kill the evil mil dictator colonel Aziz ... again. We killed the last time, but that was just a double! This mission will also include a crashing blackhawk! Nah just kidding, I am way too lazy to build an entire mission, but it's easy to learn how to.

Well, in that case, they haven't done any major overhauls that I can think of, but, with what they do do, it's all minor, the major stuff is all the mod community.

Takistan...
Do you mean Chedakis? Plenty of land to do what you want. Though I do prefer Chernarus over Takistan.

Yeah, I meant chedakis :p

I prefer Takistan (Specially Shapur). I have an awful eye sight, so trying to spot enemies in Chenarus/Utes was a pain. Also, it should be noted that some awesome mappers have birthed wonders like Island Namalsk, Duala (the author went on to create 2 others that were equally as good), but too much grasses, trees and the like for my taste.

*Just loaded ARMA 2 for the lulz, have a tank heading towards Aziz's mansion. > . >*
