HEy everyone, im looking to start doing the basic artwork for a comic i've been writing, but i dont have a lot of time to do anything too complex, i was just wondering if anyone out there knew of some simple but effective artistic styles i could emulate?

Hark! A Vagrant [http://harkavagrant.com/] is written by a young Historian with pen on paper and then scanned. If you have a serious story, I would reccomend against hand-written words unless you plan on creating a custom font.

You need to put serious consideration into this. What is your comic about? Would a simplistic art style do it any justice? If you yourself don't feel you're capable of putting out the artwork needed for your comic, do not do it yourself. Find a young illustrator, at the birth of his career, who is willing to work for free (I'm assuming you don't have any money to budget here). There are plenty out there, though I can't point you in any specific directions at the moment.

If you're adamant on drawing it yourself, then I recommend you don't try to emulate anything - the process will be rigid and slow and the quality will suffer. Draw how you draw.

The xkcd style is probably the simplest way to do it. Only holds up as far as about 4 panels at a time though
