So lets say you are an artist. Not the best, but you can manage. You have a substantial amount of money that you can ride on for a bit, so you decide to make something for yourself. Something special. Something AWESOME in your eyes. What would it be?

Edit: Please, no conversations about what art truly is. Please.

I'd probably build my own house.

It would have so much awesome, but no large spaces, and several places that it would be really hard to get to (like my room). Oh, and there would be light switches everywhere; I hate having to either:

a) get up, or

b) cross a dark room or hallway

to be able to see things.

In my opinion, one does not make art for them self, they make it for the enjoyment of others.

I would sculpt a 3-story tall model of the Starship Titanic.

In your opinion, everyone does one thing and not the other?

Some art I make for myself, some I make to show others. Why should this be an either/or scenario?

Edit: I would make a mural for my living room, depicting something excellent.

I would decide upon doing something no-one has ever done before, do something that takes me into and onwards inside my own mind and make me blubber in happiness, sadness and incomplete lullaby tones when I finally finish putting that finishing touch to my great project.

Yes I'm the emotional type.

I made it actual size, meaning it is six feet long and 2 feet wide.
Cosplay is time-consuming

I would also build a house, but one that encouraged physical activity. For example, it would have to be a tree house, so the only way to get in or out is to climb up or down a rope. Not a rope ladder, a rope. Doors slide up and down, and have to be manually opened using a series of weights and pulleys that work out your arms and legs. Electricity is provided by solar cells, but also by a pedal-powered generator. In order to watch television, you'll have to keep pedaling. In order to get from one room to another, you either have to walk across a foot-wide balance beam or get across using the monkey bars. They're far enough apart that you'd have to be the tallest person in the world to reach both comfortably. Of course, there would be safety nets underneath, but they only lead back down to the ground. You'd have to climb back up the rope again.

A great big statue, out of basic geometric shapes of different metals. Like a cone and a cube and a pyramid etc.

No idea why, never really thought of it before. Good topic!

Something that actually MEANS something to me.... So I guess I would create the ideal workspace and room. Having a lightswitch above my bed as well and by the door, comfy bed, comfy chair, desk... you get the idea...
