Well, im just curious.
What do you class as art?
Games?
Music?
Paintings?
Stories?

Personally, I think anything in the right hands can become art.
Even if its just a smudge on a board, if it has a reason behind it I will class it as art.
And alot of indie games I class as art.
Music, ofcourse is art.

Art is self expression: it's as simple as that. Good art, of course, requires skill and vision to go with it.

All of the above. It's easy like that, things have to be made and crafted right?

Everything you mentioned; ever since Jackson Pollack came along with his freaking abstract expressionism, art has become an incredibly broad category.

I have studied art intensively for the last 6 years. To be honest I still don't know how I would define it. What I would classify as art or not art. It lacks definition at the moment. Since the work of the early post-modernists it has come to be that the art world's ultimate question is 'What is art?', a question which will be forever argued and never defined. Each side will get very angry and not convince the other side of anything. They will sit and fling poo for a while until they get tired. Then they'll call a cease fire for a while and then start right back up again. This is not a concrete subject. Wikipedia won't work here.

Well, all of those could be classed as art.
Art is, as others have already said, one expressing themselves outwardly.
But then again... well, war is a kind of art... artillery is an art form...
Ok, pretty much anything could be called an art (anything unnatural made by other people).
It all depends on the opinion of the people who see it.

My opinion on art? Things that are man-made, are beautiful to me and more or less comprehensible, i can consider art.

Therefore, so-called "modern art" is not really an art. It's just randomness. Sometimes it's expressive, but it's just too damn vague.

Hrmm....well...I consider all the above as art, though I will admit there has to be a finese to it to make it *good*

I read somewhere (I think it was Frank Zappa who said it) that art isn't about what something is, but the intention.

Like, you see all these modern art pieces and they are a little bizarre. But the artist is trying to say something, and that is the important part.

In that, I see both all of the above and non of the above art. There are examples in both of all of those that I consider and don't consider art.

Too often the definition is decided by the constructivist nature of society. I'm sure there is a definitive answer somewhere.

Look at academia. There are schools of Arts. Degrees, and Masters of Arts.

I believe to say that art is human expression is too limiting, the as saying that something that is trying to say something is art. It's too limiting.

Art is so loosely defined that nobody can give a straight definition. One I once heard is "anything created to man co convey some idea or feeling". Of course a painting by a monkey is also considered art and a beautiful vista is also associated with art. So I'm going with art is anything that someone calls art. Personally, I'm not sure but I know art when I see it.
