As 2012 Draws Nearer...

Doom prophecies has happened in the past with no real accuracy other than what other people make it into. The real disasters happen with no obvious warning, or at least warnings so vague that they get ignored. having a stock of canned foods is always a good idea and basic plans on what to do if something happens, but otherwise it's a waste of time and sanity to fret that "This day's going to be the last" only to learn that, yet again, it was a false alarm.

My ultimate plan is to clean off the couch, pop some popcorn, and watch the hilarity on TV as this group or that whip themselves into a frenzy and the quickly deflated egos as the end of time passes like every other day. Or give them a tip of my earflap hat if something actually happens.

Im pretty sure i heard somewhere that the mayan calendar ending at 2012 simply meant it was the start of a new age? not the end of the world, especially since i think the mayans were in their third age already, 2012 is really just a load of idiots blowing things out of proportion

The only thing I'm concerned about is the idiots that are no doubt going to be committing crimes all over the place since it's "the end of the world". The whole Mayan calendar thing is bullshit, the Mayans just ran out of space on the rock or something equally trivial.

Hopefully People don't think to much into it, but there will most likely be rioting and looting.
If people can riot because of sports team winning/losing then so will a false doomsday.

The atomsphere is going to be tense, but I kind of like it. going to the store and seeing people running around scared and all the water and food gone. The fights and accidents, it will seem like the end of the world but it won't be, thats just stupid. Still it will be interesting to watch the craziness of people

Even among, "Idiots", I'm betting that there is 100 people making buzz for 2012 out of a sense of amused irony for every 1 person who actually believes it. Most of the increase in crazy discussions is going to be from non-believers making light of it. I'm sure that even if there is not a single person out there who believes in the prophecy, it will still be talked about by people like us, and it's only the combined force of us non-believers who make it an issue. I find the whole thing pretty funny.

The debunking one because it's witty, the stupid one...well, it's stupid.

If for some reason the world does end in 2012, then there's nothing we can do about it. It will end, we will be gone. Boo fricking hoo. Panicking over it will accomplish nothing.

However, I believe it will not end in 2012. It will end, however, in 2069, on the 6th of September. For those not using an American calendar, that would be 06/09/69.

The end of the world just got a little sexier.

Sounds like a Sex-pocolypse to me...
