As of right now, could you trust .... to use your PC?

1) Your best friend(s)
2) Your GF/BF (Any other form of relationship status)
3) Your sibling(s)
4) Your parents

Not in the sense that they might damage or corrupt it, but is there anything you don't mind / want them seeing? Lets just say they used it one day without your permission, would you get hot ans sweaty and chuck them off or relax and say go ahead?

My parents, my girlfriend and my brother are off.

But only because all 3 of them are reaaaally incompetent with them. My brother seemingly installs Virus apps on purpose.

And I'd rather buy my girlfriend a laptop than lend her mine or my PC, don't get me wrong, I could show her everything on my laptop, literally everything; I'm just afraid she'd end up dropping water on it or something.

Absolutely NO-ONE.

Not only have they all got a history of going on dodgy sites ('cept my GF, but she doesn't exist ): ), but I'm just not comfortable with it.

I wouldn't trust by parents or siblings because they don't know how to use a computer and would likely fuck something up.

My best friend I wouldn't either simply because he has likes to get drunk... and he does silly things when drunk like deleting stuff.

My wife, id trust her as long as I wasn't logged into steam. Don't want he screwing up my game scores ect.

I don't see why not. Most people I know have a basic understanding of PC's.

Did nobody read the OP? This thread is talking about things being on your computer you don't want people to see. Like porn or something. Not about people breaking your computers. It says that specifically.

I read it, did you ever consider that not everyone who has a PC has it solely to contain porn and other stuff you don't want other people to see? Besides I don't see the OP whining.

Yes to all but parents. But that's just because they don't know anything about computers. And what's worse is that my dad thinks he does.

Plus, I'm temporarily on Ubuntu, so knowing my luck, they'd fuck it up. We're used to Windows.

EDIT: For the record, I know this isn't about wrecking or corrupting it. But I STILL wouldn't let them use it, even though I have nothing to hide :p

4. I guess, my dad's seen most of my pictures anyway.

I have a few odd things on my HDD, but nothing particularly bad. The most embarrassing thing would be the large stash of fanfiction I've written. And no, none of them are lemons.

If they're not doing any damage then I'd be fine with it. A conversation afterwards may look like this:
"I was on your computer and I found your porn! Hahaha!"
"Well done, you found my porn folder. A folder sat plainly in My Docs called Porn, which is full of porn. And all while you remembered to keep breathing, astounding!"

1) Easy, not much on my pc that my best bud doesn't already know about
2) No current girlfriend, but last girlfriend used my computer constantly
3) My brother could use it till he was content, but my sister I would need to lock some files first
4) Yeah, my parents and I are pretty close though we live hundreds of miles away so I don't care if they see my porn stash, or my bank account.

Reread the part on bold letters, is your reading comprehension bad or something?
I'm aware of that. However, the OP specifically says this thread is not about not letting people use your computer because they are bad with computers, which took up most of your post. That is the reason you were quoted.

Well the only people i trust enough to use my computer are my two housemates (also on computing courses at uni), other than that no one without me watching over them, she's my precious and she tends to throw a fit when anyone else uses her lol.

As for not wanting to see stuff, well anything private is stored on my 1TB backup drive which is encrypted on 256bit AES with a 50-60 character password, my operating system hard drive has nothing other than installed programs on it, the OS itself locks after 5mins also so i don't think anyones getting in.. Well without serious skill.

All things considering i don't really have anything to hide, i suppose at worst Anime cause my parents and friends don't get it, but thats in a hidden folder so even if the hdd weren't encrypted it wouldn't be found, i just have trust issues and i'm security conscious..

as long as they don't go digging to deep in the download section, and they usually don't, i let them go for it. i have don't exactly have porn but i do have a bit of "adult" manga and a few "relationship" photos of my GF....i think i'm gonna go quadruple compress these files now.....(shifts eyes)

Yep.
I pretty much allow everyone free-ish access to my computer.
My only real security measure is at the startup screen with my password - which, if I'm feeling particularly lethargic, I'll usually just shout across the room.
Then the only risk that I'm taking is that they go into C:My Documents/That Folder/You Know That Folder Everyone Has?/This is That Folder - and no-one fucking goes in it. Ever.
Its like they see That Folder and just skip straight over it to the next one.

1 and 2 are almost always free to my computer...but my sister and my parents are a no go. They do not get access to my Facebook or any of my online doings so they don't get this either.
