Recently, I fallen into the Internet craze that is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In my humble opinion, it's a great show. But, most of the people I've talked to about it, either don't care about it or hate it vehemently. So, I thought I would place this topic here to try and explain why other bronies and I like the show so much, and also to tackle some of the stereotypes surrounding the show. I will now leave the floor open to you, my fellow Escapists. Ask away...

Doesnt the show get annoying after a while? Its not my thing but I cant imagine why so many adults are ok with being bombarded with shrill voices, 5 billion bright colors and sweet morals for hours on end.

Also, in case you arent already a member:

Bronies, people who hate bronies and people who simply dont care seem to agree its best to keep most of the MLP stuff on this site in the usergroup.
The voices I don't mind. To be honest, Pinkie is the only character with a shrill voice but her dialogue makes up for it.
It took my a while, but after around 30 episodes I got over the intro-sequence song. The first few episodes I watched I had to skip past it because it was so sickeningly girly.

You'd think it would, but it hasn't happened to me yet. Partially due to the face the shrill voices are very-well voiced, and (most of the time) the morals are much more subtle. Although, some episodes are a little preachy about morals, but the majority of the episodes aren't.

Why is is you meet with someone who doesn't hate it you have to spurge your love for it all over them? Also why do bronies act like a cult and try to recruit people into it?

Oh and there's a brony group, if you need to talk about it.

OK, way to make it sound waaaaaaaaaaaaay creepier than it needed to be.

To answer your question, it's a simple matter of trying to introduce people to a good show. Example: if you like a video game, like say, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and you find out someone you know, who likes video games, has never played, formed an opinion, or even heard of BFD. Wouldn't you say something along the lines of "You should really give it a try, you might just like it"?

That's completely sane and understandable. I mention I saw it and it's a good show and they always will out their cellphone/laptop and start blaring the opening song (another question, why is that always the first thing they do?) and yelling out pony memes they'll think I understand and talk about their shipper fictions. They're worse than yaoi fangirls. I'll try to clear up that I don't like the show that much and they pretty much switch to recruitment mode where, "If you like it why aren't you a brony?"

It wasn't just one weird guy, that's how almost all of my encounters with bronies in real life go.

Yeaaah, it's really turning into a cult. I'm sick of it.
Quite frankly it's becoming a sort of religion. Good for you that you like this show so much but I really don't care, and at the end of the day, it's aggravating to have people shove it in my face all the time.

[small]And I thought the repetitive MLP threads had stopped forever...:([/small]

Every fanbase has those people. The ones that take their like to their show to the extreme, and subsequently alienate other people from the show. I'm hoping you just happened to run into an above average collection of creepos, and that I'm not an island of sanity in an ocean of WTF,G?

Was there a question there? This post is called "Ask a Brony", not "Here's Another MLP Thread, Feel Free to Dump Your Disdain for the Show Here".

AAAAH AWESOME, I was really worried this'd turn into some sort of argument and it woulda made me sad xD. Nah haha I see what you mean dude<3.
Gonna be honest, I've never actually seen the show just because I don't understand the appeal behind it. HMM.
[small]...and the cult of MLP seems like some sort of masonic Illuminati conspiracy...;);)[/small]

Not true at all, there's almost no Tom Hanks in MLP.(;

But about the appeal, I can understand where you're coming from, since the source material is about as girly as is humanly possible. And I, at first, didn't want anything to do with the show either. But, eventually, I just said, "Why is this a thing?" So I watched it, and liked it.

what do you think of the songs in the show?
Most of them good, but when they miss, I hardly remember it. But stuff like Smile, Smile, Smile, The Perfect Pet, and Evil Enchantress are great.
