Any comment on your country's tough immigration policies?

Well, you've nailed the one element of my country's legislation that I have the least experience with, for obvious reasons.

Personally I'm not opposed to strict immigration laws, but we have a serious problem in that a lot more intelligent and educated people are leaving the country than are coming in.

I would help answer questions but... I really can't be f**ked, It's too much bloody effort!

Yes. I do actually like my country, but I'd still trade it for generally cheaper shipping and better internet. Not being facetious, either; I love videogames, books, movies, etc. New Zealand just means these hobbies are more expensive.

However, there's one thing I really enjoy here, as a motorcyclist: it's easy to find fun driving/riding roads without having to go far. I'd have to think long and hard about where I was moving to.

Are there any phrases that you use fairly often in casual conversation that are fairly unique to the area? Or is this one of those kind of things that you wouldn't even think about until confronted with someone that would have no idea what you're talking about.

See, sitting here right now I can't even think of any terms that I use that would confuse people from other countries. I'm sure I have them, but I can't conjure one at will like this.

Hmmm.

There's not many phrases that spring to mind; usually it's a word that doesn't carry the same meaning. Like when I refer to the boot of a car while talking to American friends, then have to clarify that I mean the trunk.

Also, we're masters of the ambiguous reply:

Q: Whaddya reckon?
A: Yeah, nah, mate.
