Something to look forward to, first game had a decent plot even if you cant skip the cutscenes xD
Thing is though, if you skip the cutscenes then you don't get the story. Simple as that. The story is too complicated for the luxury of skipping cutscenes (given the whole time/memory thing).

As for this game, it should be really good if they just sort out some of the problems, mainly the repetitiveness, from the first game. I was a huge fan of Assassin's Creed, enough that I could play it and mainly overlook most of the flaws, because I enjoyed the good points enough that the bad things didn't really matter to me. However, the small amount of mission variations was very annoying. The PC release, which I didn't get, was apparently better because Ubisoft actually took the criticisms on board and added new missions, notably an Archer Assassination mission. If the new game can add more variation and make sure that we're always surprised and pleased with different styles of investigation missions, then following the same formula as last time won't be a bad thing, and we may well see another hit next March.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wont it be really easy to be gunned down in that game, even if it takes ages to reload?

That sounds....really cool, actually.
Yeah, it really does. I hope the repetetiveness from the first one's gone, though.
Same here.
I really want an old-time pistol to shoot people with. I hope the ammo for it is easier to get than the knives from the first one...
I want the pistols to take a long time to reload though, maybe even a little mini-game?
That'd be a pain in the ass, though. I'd use it a lot even with a long reload time, but a mini-game?
Well it's somewhat realistic, you can't just have another round in fast, and I'd rather be doing something then just watching my poor bastard take six minutes to reload...
I realized the kind of game you meant after I wrote it. For whatever reason, I was thinking of some obscure game that had no connection to reloading...
But actually going through the motions to reload might be fun.

I found pickpocketing to be rather easy. I would kill most guards i came across with my knives.
But finding the bastards was a pain in the ass sometimes.
Not really, there are like two on every major street. At least.
But you know what would be really nice? If we had some grenades.

That would be a problem, unless the guns aren't incredibly accurate.

Still, I don't recall those "old" guns as incredibly reliable, but in the hands of a skilled marksman, still deadly.

On the flip side, when did games allow npcs to have any form of weapon training?

Swim? In the Venitian Canals?

Ewwww.....

Still, Venice is one of the neatest cities on earth, setting a new Assassin's Creed there is awesometastic.
Ah but you must know that the Venitian Canals were not always THAT dirty. But aside from that maybe this game will remove the flag finding achievements, those are ANOYING.

Huh, I was sure there were some magazine scans about AC2 being set in Venice about a month ago or so? Ah well, I do look forward to it and the costume mechanics promise to be interesting (the closer Assassin's Creed moves to Hitman, while retaining the climbing and an open world, the more win).

Also, bearing in mind the original had three cities, it might be interesting to see what else they unveil. Florence, perhaps? (Because that would be beyond awesome.)

I personally can't believe that any one would think of making a sequel to the most repetitive piece of shit I and everyone I know have ever played.

Wait, what? in the first one you couldn't swim, you just drowned... =/
The Venetian Canals are notoriously filfthy because it's the cities run off.

ALL of it's run off.

As in, it's sewage system.

Anyway, all I can say is... FINALLY I CAN METE OUT HARSH JUSTICE WHILST WEARING POOFY PANTALOONS!

It wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it a lot. :) And while it's good to hear bit more in detail about this, it has been speculated months ago that the sequel would be something like this. I hope they can fix the problems, put in more content and release it as soon as possible. One year seems to be a long time... Let's hope they'll use it wisely.

Your right, skipping those cutscenes would take away all the drama, but it does make replaying the game a tad frustrating, maybe the developer should add a 'replay' or 'arcade' mode for once you've finished the game.

Yeah i have the PC version of AC and it is really very good. The archer assassination missions can be the hardest of all investigations (not a bad thing) and the escort challenge (dont know if thats in console version or not) was my personal favorite.

Hopefully when you climb out of the crap your white pantaloons are suitably dirty.

If UBI can deliver AC2 with more variety than the original had then they are on to a serious winner.

That said I really really loved the 3rd Crusade setting and a jump forward of approx 500 years may be too far - at that rate the 3rd of the AC trilogy is going to be entirely in the future (please no! Desmond is cool but i dont wanna be him for a whole game). Then again, it could be 19th century London, a real hive of filth, or even Nazi Germany during WW2, maybe even during the Bolshevik revolution in Russia!

I wonder if Giacomo Girolamo Casanova, will make an apperance, that could be kind of cool. they could even get David Tennant to do the voice acting!

I really badly hope this is true; even though the game will probably be as good as the first regardless of setting, Ubisoft could do a lot with Venice.

Gotta admit, a bit disappointed. At the end of the first they mentioned they captured their "next target", located in "the far east". I was hoping for ninjas. :(

Still, better to be prepared for something different. This will likely be pretty cool.
