Errr...

Well when this site closes due to some horrific incident, and we have to vote worst opening posts ever I'm sure you'll be right up there.

Anyway, AC2 will do just fine - I'm a little confused as to why you don't think so? L4D2 is a big game by some of the best around but so's AC2. In fact, AC2 will sell more as it's on the PS3 as well.

the fact that its on the ps3 has nothing to do with more sales IMO the pc sales alone will outdo its ps3 sales im sure :p. left 4 dead 2 is going to be a very large release. And when people have to make a choice its down to opinion. I'm going to assume its a bit of a poor time for a release date. Because they could simply push it back, polish more and release near christmas without conflicting with peoples budgets(releasing on the same date puts some people in a crossroad choice of l4d2 or assassins creed 2).(either way im sure it will do well this is just a thought)

Not too much effect I think because the target audiences don't overlap too much. AC2 will be targeting the people who want a story, variety and a great single player experience with focus on the console market and fixing the problems of AC 1. L4D2 will target the fps playing, multiplayer loving, pc gamers whilst trying to convince people who bought L4D1 that it's not pretty much the same game. So there's not a hell of a lot of people who will be too indecisive.

They speak the truth. I'll be getting Assassin's Creed 2 over Left 4 Dead 2 because I prefer story, variety and a single player experience :p

Yeah.
And, Assassin's Creed II has hammers.
And hammers going into other people.

Yeah.

And hammers going into other people.
Hammers that make people go squish.
And then pickpocketing their corpses.
And then throwing said corpses off of tall buildings.

As will I but that's mainly because I'm a console player and valve games on consoles are hopeless.

That also is a factor. The Orange Box wasn't bad but still inferior to PC version.

I'm not sure how many people are Ubisoft and Valve fans and I don't know how many people like shooters and would like assassin's creed enough to buy the sequel. People can buy two games at once though so although I expect a small hit in sales due to the release date it wont be much and wont affect the long term sales.

well, it's not going to affect me.
i'm pre-ordering AC2, and due to being (unfortunately) situated in Australia, i'm going to have to buy L4D2 over ebay, which will take a bit longer....

I'm just going to say that they're two different genres and probably have very little of an overlapping fanbase, but assuming I cared about the sequel to the three hour long waste of 60 dollars that was the first L4D, I would probably buy them both.

God I'm not buying either.

Not buying AC2 because I hated AC.
Not buying L4D2 because L4D wasn't worth anywhere close to $50.

Personally I'm going to pick up AC2 but not L4D2 due to having a fun time with AC but always finding problems when I played my friends copy of L4D. Also I think you are overlooking how MW2 will affect the L4D2 sales instead of AC2 seeing as they are both FPS's and AC2 is a free roam single player slower paced game.

I'll definitely pick up AC2 simply because it seems like they've actually made attempts to correct (some of) the things that people disliked about the first AC. Plus the videos have really impressed me.

L4D I won't pick up. I wasn't that impressed with the first one, and having given up on 360 after having 3 RROD on me I've had plenty of time to build up my PS3 library.

3 platforms vs. 2 platforms and you don't think there will be a difference? The last sales update for the original Left 4 Dead was 3 million (excluding online Steam sales), whilst AC had 8 million. I find it hard to believe another 5 million copies of L4D were sold online.

And what you've said could be the exact same for L4D2. Valve are one of my favourite developers, but they're less... mainstream shall we say than Ubisoft. If you asked some gamers who just pick up games without bothering with reviews/previews, AC seems the more likely choice (with people I know at least, obviously they could be in the minority).

And just ignoring the PS3 is a little ridiculous if you're trying to make a balanced argument.
