Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Combat Trailer Ups Its Stab Quota

If your day has been sadly deficient thus far in watching fools get stabbed in the face, this Assassin's Creed Brotherhood trailer is just what the doctor ordered.

The record will show that I really liked [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/events/favorites2009/6889-The-Escapist-Staffs-Five-Faves-of-2009-John] last year's Assassin's Creed II. So, you can probably imagine that I'm fairly psyched to grab a team and head back into Renaissance-era Italia with Ezio Auditore and company in the upcoming Brotherhood.

And after watching the trailer that you see here, I'm even more psyched than before. The highlights of the Creed games have always been the exploration, free-running, and assassinations - the combat has never been exactly what I'd call spectacular. But damned if this trailer doesn't make it just look superb.

I mean, did you see him throw that spear through the guy's chest? Did you see him grab that other guy in the face, and then shoot him in it? I can't wait to do some face-grab-shooting of my very own, I can tell you that.

And yes, as one might imagine, there is plenty of stab-happy action going on. Would it really be an Assassin's Creed game if there weren't?

New trailer looks AMAZING, can't wait to get my hands on this one. That song went really well with the footage, too. Anyone care to find out the name/artist?

Awesome

Just awesome

I hope they have enough new animations that it dosen't feel like an Expansion Pack, though

I remember reading an interview a while ago in which a developer said that the AI is a lot more intelligent now and combat will be a lot harder and more complex, as opposed to AC2 where...it really was not a challenge whatsoever. For this I am very glad and the trailer looks sweeeet.

That's a pretty poor trailer considering it's from Ubisoft (who are usually excellent at trailers). They slowed the game down to the point where all I could concentrate on were the missing links in Ezio's animations.

Anyway, looking forward to this.

I hope they've pushed the social stealth further too though. It's still not at the point where it's a viable option compared to running on a roof and just dropping down on your target. If anything, I hope they strip many of the combat abilities from the next ancestor.

Ehh this only reinforces what I'm afraid of for this game. It looks more like a straight action game. I want more stealthy assassinations and clean kills rather than brute force tactics.

Is this actual gameplay footage or just in-game cinematics? If it's the later, it's hard to judge anything. Ga,es have been makeing nice cinematics for many years, which rarely reflects anything usefull gameplaywise.
Oh, and at 1:21 theres a chick assasin, which makes me wonder why it's called brotherhood, and not some unisex sort of hood.

Seems like they're pulling back the stuff that worked from AC1 here too, as Ezio seems more like Altair in a warrior sense.

I generally try to avoid being affected by hype, but I can't help it in this case.

This is Combat-porn.

I'm taking you didn't get far in Assassin's Creed II. Or play it at all.

There were many women assassins, at least after Altaiir.

0.50 crossbow ftw!

Shame that they haven't tweeked the engine to get better graphics though.

It looks like a straight up port of AC2 which isn't bad per say, but I wish they would have pushed the envelope a bit more.

Wasn't Altair supposed to have a crossbow from the original SCREE trailer? Ah well, Signore Auditore is going retro. I like it.

Poor clergymen. They always end up getting killed.

Didn't play it due to, according to those of my friends who did play it, the combat sucks.

While it does (the original mainly) look quite interresting, i just couldn't be arsed to play through a game, where every fight felt like an obstacle between me and fun.
So i when i saw this, i figured if it wasn't for supposedly bad combat, i would prolyl get the game, so teh trehad title, which sugegsted awesome combat made me currious.

As for the chick assasin, whether or not the've been ther ein the otehr games doesn't really change the fact, that it's weird to call it brotherhood, which you would think consisted of... borthers, males, just like you'd not expect a man in a sisterhood.

great music, but like others have said, I want more stealth elements. the assassinations in ac2 were too easy and the social stealth was a bit weak. but that multiplayer could turn everything around.

Using groups to take down a target? Awesome.
Butchering tons of guardsmen? Sloppy. That's the one thing I can't stand about Assassin's Creed: you kill way too many people. You have one target, and you're a master assassin... can't you do the job in a way so only he dies? Why do you always have to hack up all the guards?

*looks down* Dammit, now I have to change my pants again...

Though Ezio, please, shave off your beard. You were way sexier without that goatee. Everyone knows it's the bad guy who wears the goatee.
